Mousers kicking off on twitter, complaining that Defoe was never ostracised for his bite a few years ago.

Typical blinkered mousers, a few points of comparison to consider:

1. Defoe's bite was directly after Mascherano cynically sithed him down from behind, so he had reason to be pretty miffed.
2. Defoe was booked at the time, so by the F.A's ruling he could not have been further punished retrospectively.
3. Defoe's bite was a fraction of the viciousness of Suarez's and lasted for a fraction of the time.
4. Defoe has an exemplary disciplinary record, which works in his favour, Suarez has a justified and proven record of cheating, abuse and underhand tactics.
5. Suarez immediately feined injury when he thought that he might get into trouble for the incident, presumably in an attempt to make Ivanovic look like the guilty party.
6. This is the second time Suarez has bitten someone during a football match, he was punished the first time, and clearly didn't learn his lesson.

Gaffe, my old mucker, WUM threads don't run for 198 pages. This thread is clearly viewed as a vital resource and touchstone for many clued-in posters. Discussion topics have been wide-ranging and debate has been keenly argued. Yes, it is a shame that a small minority have tried to derail the thread with inane and puerile comments, but the integrity and determination of the majority of posters has been self-policing, and has shamed the idiot-few into silence.

You should rejoice, Gaffe, because this thread has benefitted you just as much as it has us Spurs lads.
Take your head out of your spud arse and stop talking bollocks then. 'Defoe's little nibble'? Only you HIAG.

Don't think the handball was deliberate. Just really bad play to jump in such a way. He has no idea.

Don't know what possesses him sometimes. Especially with the backing the club gave him following Evra's complaints last year.

And now the filth is trying to bring Hillsborough in to it so that people feel sorry for him and that he's doing the right thing. Only idiots would fall for it....see Liverpool board for proof.

FILTH.

That's the real irony - he actually acted really well over that - never contested it and immediately apologised to his team mates which is something you don't always see.
I note the general reaction from you lot is that you hate what he did, think he should be punished, but would like to try and keep him as you want world class payers at your club. Must admit I think I'd have the same opinion to be honest. It worked for a certain other North west based club who had a player who did something probably even more stupid in the 1990s..............

Where his fine goes should be nothing to do with him, he wouldn't have made the same amount in a donation so why should he be praised for his club choosing to give the fine amount to a charity? Giving the fine to a Hillsborough charity is a cynical ploy from the club to keep their fans on Luis' side, it would've been more appropriate to put it towards providing pitchside tetnus shots for when Suarez plays.

It is so transparent that this was a ploy to keep the fans onside. They really are run very very poorly in the PR department, everyone with a brain can see right through this.

As procedure Liverpool give all of their club fines to the Hillsborough charity anyway, so Suarez would not have been involved in the decision. Makes the decision to announce it to the world in this individual case an even more blatant PR exercise...

To be fair, as some pundits all but accused him of disrespecting the memory of the victims someone probably thought it was a way to publicly set the record straight.

Lol, piety and righteousness from a supporter of a team that contains John Terry and Ashley Cole. Hilarious.

Trust the Mail to have a close-up of Suarez's gopher gnashers, they do look painful though...

Sincerely doubt Suarez had anything to do with the donation thing... PR, plain as daylight.

Suarez issued a swift apology following the conclusion of the game at Anfield on Sunday and also spoke to the Serbia international.

"I've spoken to Ivanovic on the phone so I could apologise directly to him," Suarez tweeted. "Thanks for accepting."

He also tweeted: "For my unacceptable behaviour the club has fined me.

"I have asked the club to donate the money to the Hillsborough Family Support Group for the inconvenience I have created to the Liverpool fans and to Ivanovic."

Wrong Reverend.

for the inconvenience I have created to the Liverpool fans

What inconvenience he scored a last minute equalizer the Liverpool fans aint bothered about that.
