I see there are cooments being made about schools, schooling and teachers cropping up here there and everywhere in our corner of the not606 forum. How about gathering them all together here?
I read they are on at the nurses too.... suggesting every nurse first works a year as a healthcare assistant... beats me that these jumped up besuited aristocrats who use BUPA and Harrow.... of whatever political persuasion..... believe they can tell Drs and Nurses and teachers how to do their jobs
Yorkie - Health and Education are the same, politicians and civil servants love to meddle without having a clue what they are doing. It gets them in the news and then guarentees them a future when they will have to fix what they have broken again! One area they never love to fiddle with is the MOD - I suppose it's because if they do, some Admiral or Field Marshall will get on the news and create a ****-storm that will be believed by joe-public.
It is about time that some of the student nurses did get some practical hands on experience. My daughter has a stream of them who have their bits of paper to say that they are qualified, yet have no idea about basic nursing skills. Keeping a patient comfortable, making sure they have something to drink, checking to see that the health care assisitants are doing their jobs, should be part of the remit, but it is not something that is taught at length in the classroom.
I agree... but making would be nurses be lower paid health care assistants for one year is not the answer..... I can see it is cheaper.. of course... The heart of nursing which is care for the patient needs to be returned to.... successive govts have focussed more on form filling and targets...
Dare I say no - they never love to fiddle with their expenses. Hmm- how should I re-word that? They never like to fiddle with their own conditions of service - their salary/pension/claimable allowances/free travel/cheap meals & drinks etc - unless, of course, it is to increase same. The word cut never applies there.
No surprises really Yorkie - their sole aim is to cut wherever they see fit - like sharks in a feeding frenzy. Quite why they don't do the obvious and cut tax evasion is head scratching though - perhaps vested interests?
Ms Saxet is a teacher - as is one of her brothers. The other brothers (and sister) are surgeons and a nurse respectively. As if I didn't have to (politely) listen to her gripes at the end of the day.... So I will be avoiding this thread in future.
Is this true that your government will spend more than the last Brown government because Gordon Brown had spending made in advance which cannot be avoided? So even if the David Cameron government look like they are making savings they are not.
All govts have spending plans that the next govt is tied in to... plus inflation of course... so it tends to go up year on year.. little leeway for any govt..
Did you hear on 5-Live the CEO of Google justifying why his company pays a couple of Million in tax on UK turn over of a couple of Billion...if the Gov had any balls they would shut the crooks down if they did not pay up what they really owe.
Seems like they're not fussy who they attack - let's hope the Govt. don't listen to this claptrap. http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/pensioners-should--share-the-pain-and-pay-more-tax--092232867.html
