Surprise 2-0 lead in the second half against a QPR side that has virtually all of their Prem lineup in my Crewe save (currently in the Championship, couple points above the zone, slowly running out of money). Meaningless free kick from inside the QPR half. Keeper comes for it, ball goes over his head, goal. QPR wins 3-2. For some reason it won't allow me to record it, which is unfortunate.
Playing a network game with a mate, and I've just taken Atalanta to the Champions League within two seasons. Only a Maxi Moralez free kick in the last minute got it for me though, I was jumping around my room when it went in. Had to draw with Napoli to stay ahead of AC Milan, and sure enough I'm now in the UCL. Having said that, my mate is playing as Torino and came 2nd in the first season.
Found a really easy download for all logos, if anyone wants it ill post the link. It's done through mediafire, then a simple drag and drop.
Serie A is actually fun to manage in. If you can survive the first year with a ****e squad with not much money, Udinese are incredible when Vydra, Torje and co. come back from loans. Got them to second in the second year, only five points behind Juve who have hugely superior finances.
The board at Cardiff have trolled me again, last season they gave me £24,000,000 to spend which i used and went on to finish 7th with (I still had the smallest wage budget in the league). However this year the chairman has said that the team is costing too much and has thus started negotiating the sales of the majority of the squad, It's currently July the 12th and I have just 11 first team players.
Really struggling now with Cardiff, we are dead bottom after 4 games. I'm down to only 13 senior players. Although I've just managed to bring in Fernando Cavenaghi and John O'Shea on loan.
My Crewe side is in the Championship, and I had a bit of money to spend...found this guy transfer-listed for 500k, which seemed like a decent investment spread over 48 months given his skillset and sell-on potential: please log in to view this image What I wasn't anticipating was his wage demands...enter The Worst Agent in Football Manager History, Francesco Gherardi: please log in to view this image Rated as a leading Championship star, his agent was more than happy to have him tied down for five years at 240 p/w, as a key player...I actually more than doubled the wages he was demanded because he was getting Serie A interest.
I was Everton... First season I got a budget of £2mil... I got Ait Fana for £1.5mil and sold Baines for £20mil on the last day of the transfer window. I got Jetro Willems in the January transfer window as a replacement for Baines and Andre Castro for half a million... Also signed Nicolai Jorgensen who is a cracking player at a cheap price. I won the league and won the league cup. Next season got to the Champions League quarter finals where I lost on away goals to eventual winners Juventus... Got in the top 4. Won the league cup again and also won the community shield... I made other signings like Adam Maher and Henriksen from AZ Players I would recommend... Jetro Willems, Tony Janktsche (sp?) from Gladbach.... he is absolutely incredible. Nicolai Jorgensen... can get him for £2.5mil and he is class.
Took two seasons to get Crewe out of the Championship (got destroyed in the playoffs the first year, won through the autos the second), but again, I must salute the Worst Agent in Football Manager history. Ciano ended up being my best player for two years running, made it into the division team of the year both times (earning him a bonus of £1850 for the two years combined), and has accepted promotion to the Prem all while being perfectly content with earning next to nothing. Not sure that I could've done it if I'd paid him enough to live somewhere that had a roof.
I've been playing as Rangers, aiming for some form of European success, I got through the first two seasons with a 85% win ratio but I embarrassingly appear to be struggling in Div 1. I've kept hold of the most of the key players and the team is more than good enough to get out of the division and has been added to with a few u-19 German and Italian regens but I just can't seem to get results... Doesn't matter which formation I use or which team set-up I go with I can't get any consistency in results. I managed to go 6 games unbeaten but most of those were draws and then I go and lose 2-1 at home to Livingston?! Just won the Challenge Cup so hopefully that will kick start some sort of form -.-
I've manger to get Eastleigh upto the championship with consecutive promotions with two seasons in league 1. Now signed Samuel etoo on a free as a player coach but doesn't start much as his physicals are slightly down now. Probably going down this first season but can afford wages over 3k per player. Moving into a 14k stadium next season that might help with that so I can build a solid championship side.
I have Crewe as an affiliate club on my Cardiff campaign, they've sent me a few belting youth players so far.
I'm going to have to admit I finished 3rd in Division 1 with Rangers in my first season... I know, I'm rubbish at this. Somehow the board were only 'slightly dissapointed' so I got away with it! I had a good spell of games in the middle of the season where I went unbeaten and picked up plenty of points but the damage was done at the start and end of the season with far too many draws. I've only really been able to sign newgens or players from teams with really low reputations due to a non existent transfer budget and the problem that comes with the newgens is that although the stats of these players are pretty impressive usually their current ability is miles away from their potential (my assistant manager picked up on this last season, plenty of 4/5* rated players but their current ability was 1/2*) and these guys were still finding their feet in the world of football when I threw them into play 30 games. Many of the players who I started in Division 3 with have gone due to the ludicrous wage demands that come with higher reputation players, I have a £80,000 a week wage budget and someone like Sandaza asking for £8,000 a week is completely out of the question for what he brings to the team. In pre-season for the 4th season. I started getting some positive feedback from my newly expanded coaching staff about a few of the newgens, rapid improvements and reaching maximum potential etc and so far this season has been better. I'll post up some some screenies of some of the better players tonight, have to go up this season, HAVE TO! One thing I noticed this year is that no matter what level you are playing at or how much of an advantage you have in terms of players if you get lazy and just leave your tactics or don't prepare for every game results seem harder to come by. There seems to be more tactical nuances this year, I just wish I had more patience when it comes to setting up before each game!
