Been having a look at Sundays cards and I fancied one so thought I would pop up a thread for tomorrow.
Lower Hope Dandy should be a good thing for the Wincanton 3.40 based on his Cheltenham romp recently but we all know that it doesnt always work out like that. He is short enough too so I am looking to get him beat, possibly in vain.
The one I have picked for the job is MUMBLES PIER 25-1 for a few reasons. His form figures do not look inspiring but he always takes a few runs to get straight. Additionally he is a top of the ground horse and his last two poorish efforts have been on heavy. His performances have led to him dropping down the handicap to a mark of 86. In July 2010 he won a similar event at Market Rasen off a mark of 112, a whopping 26lbs higher than this. On board that day was Donal Devereaux and he is on board tomorrow taking off a handy extra 3lbs.
It is a slight leap of faith that he can win this tomorrow but I really that at 25-1 he is worth taking a chance on. The yard is in really good form right now and off this mark he really looks worth a small each way punt.

What did we make of the Noble Mission effort yesterday.

A lot of watchers opined that TQ should have sent the horse on when he cruised upsides the eventual winner two out.

    It was therefore interesting to hear Henry Cecil state,in a hardly thinly veiled criticism of his jockey;

"He needed the run and if he had of been waited with a little longer he could of got away with it.."

I suppose one could argue that if the trainer hadn't of ran the horse half-cocked then the jockey could have ridden the race he wanted.

Ultimately it should be remembered that NM is a bit of an old dog if truth be told.

I have no doubt Noble Mission is the most talented horse from yesterday's race, the problem is he's not the most genuine horse, and I think he just got out battled a little. The ground was dead at Newbury yesterday, and I think on faster ground he will do better. Perhaps a drop back to 10 furlongs wouldn't be a bad idea, as he's got plenty of gears.

On a side note, can anyone tell me why the so called 'great' Mo Farah is only running half the London Matathon? Yet your average person in the street is expected to run the whole way

Dexter: Good morning! NM Looks very much like he could be a bit of a dog, I agree, but hope I'm wrong.

Am still trying to stay loose after my dozy screwup yesterday...<laugh>

Noble Mission travelled as well as he ever has but he again looked one paced in the finish. Id imagine he would make an interesting stayer?

Options to step up or step down Toppy.

He certainly travelled like 10f wouldn't be a problem...at G3 level in any case.

Interesting that HC indicates he'll possibly go for the Ormonde next which is 1m5f albeit on a very tight track.

    Morning all.

Missed the racing yesterday was at the WBA vs Newcastle match. So will be catching some replays later on.

Toppy - nice little stadium <ok> fair atmosphere from one end of your ground ONCE you's got back level - apart from that all the noise was from our fans. Poor game tbh your lot dominated the second half but Cisse should have made sure it was game over before the break the bell end.

I'm probably fighting a losing battle by the look of the gamble going on with Mumbles Pier but i'm taking Stick on and I've gone EW on Star of Massini 28/1
