I've been predicting it all season long and I never thought for one moment, that number of points would actually make us Champions! Next up at home in front of a FULL House is AFC Wimbledon and one point for the magical 83 is now all we need.
Well done brb Maybe your season-long prediction is bang on and we will lose at Burton anyway? Who gives a ***. Champions anyway And maybe only 83 points is needed because contrary to many opinions, I reckon it could be that this division is actually very good. There are teams on 52 points with one game left, that could still be relegated. That is unprecedented I think. Basically there are not 3 or 4 teams at the bottom that are easy-beats and will lay down to provide 6 points for the promotion candidates. It has been a very tough season for every team. Just glad we can go through it all again a division higher next season Up The Gills
@ brb - that actually just about sums up my feelings at the moment. No huge emotional outpourings, but then again I wasn't there, and my joy was being at the Torquay match when we confirmed promotion. Also, we have rather staggered over the line. However we are there, and I can now get my birthday present signed shirt framed with a plaque that reads 'League 2 Champions 2012-13'. @ SirKeefy - we'd bloody well better not lose at Burton - THAT's going to be my party!!! One element of relief is that it is now virtually impossible for Burton to get automatic promotion (3 points and 8 goals worse off than Rotherham), so they might go a bit easy next week and leave something in the tank for their play-off games.
So, you don't think its a good idea to let Burton win 8-0 just in case Rotherham lose I would dearly love to see Mr Evans drop into the play-offs then miss out altogether. Pity it ain't gonna happen
In a word - NO! In several words (as is my habit), I suppose, at 4.45 next Saturday if a) Cheltenham were not winning AND b) Rotherham were losing by 7 and we were drawing I might allow myself a small desire for Burton to score to condemn Rotherham to the play-offs. However I'd just like Cheltenham to wind and Rotherham to lose, BUT as Rotherham are at home to Aldershot I think that the likelihood of Rotherham not getting a draw, let alone losing by 7, are somewhat remote. Certainly not sufficient for me to bet against it, unfortunately. So, I'll just settle for a win and a party, and a visit to Rotherham next season.
