I don't share your views on Giroud. I think if you look at it carefully, he is doing well for a young striker in his first season of premier league football. He has 32 games 11 goals and 5 assists. 11 of those games have him losing considerable time due to substitution. He does a lot of pushing and shoving and grafting that needs to be done given the lack of physicality in our other forward players. I don't think an aguero or Suarez type is going to have any joy through the middle, against the blocked up defences we face. Teams just don't want to play football against us. He would also score a lot more with his head, if the rest of our team were not midgets!
He's hardly young mate. And teams don't play football against us, because that's how to beat us. If we learnt how to defend set pieces and weren't so susceptible to counterattacks, then maybe people might play against us, like Everton did yesterday. They controlled the game until we made subs.
Sorry, but that is crap. They didn't have a decent chance all game. They were reduced to hopeful shots from 20+ yards and long balls that usually ran through to the keeper. Their striker, compared to Giroud was non-league standard, if you think Giroud played badly. All they did was destroy the play in the middle, when we tried to play it through. In the end we had to resort to long balls over the top to get over their 5 -man agressive press. That would not have worked without a big man winning headers up there. You play Podolski up front, or someone else who can't win an aerial challenge against a CB, and we lose that game 3-0.
We now have three games t find out. I personally think we will see a far better team without Giroud. Id go for Pod in the middle. If the rumours of Wilshere having ankle surgery I read earlier are true Id move Cazorla to the middle and have a front three of Walcott, Pod and Ox. That would include pace, strength and height all of which we've lacked at times.
Oh dear, it seems to get worse for Giroud every week. Him being unavailable for the next three games is probably good for him in the long term. Because in the short term, his form was never going to improve and the fans were going to properly turn on him.
Have you been taking your meds lately? This is about the 4th time in as many weeks that I've read one of your posts and just gone... wtf. Last time it was how the invincibles would be mid-table (i ignored that one), and now it's Suarez and Aguero being unable to break down stubborn defenses. I don't remember you being this batshit crazy until recently, so have the meds been cut off? Just wtf..
This. TT is either wumming, in a committed sexual relationship with Wenger, or totally off his rocker.
ill have whatever you are smoking mate. totally off your trolley . I especially like the bit about the "big man winning headers up there " I didnt see any big man winning fuck all , but then i was watching "Le Grand Blouson femme " aka Giroud Try giving the POD 90 mins and not 20 to save the game ...you might be surpised.
Look, other than TT, we all agree that Giroud is not good enough to be our main striker week in week out, at best, he's a good squad back up player to have. I know TT's posts makes some very very frustrated, but it is only him talking like that, so don't get all worked up over it, most of us see eye to eye on Giroud.
Giroud is a decent backup but not good enough for a club like Arsenal. With a decent striker we would have had considerably more points this Season.
If we had a better striker than Giroud we would've taken a point at Stamford Bridge, and beaten Everton at home on Tuesday. Even away to Spurs I remember him missing an opportunity a top class striker would have taken.
Do I wish Giroud was playing better - Yes. Do I think he needs to get better - Yes. Do I accept that Giroud, was, is and never will be, good enough at Arsenal - no. No matter who you get, he is going to need time to adapt to the PL. If you keep playing a new striker every year, you will never get anyone "Good Enough".
Not true. Look at Sergio Aguero, Fernando Torres, Javier Hernandez etc. They all hit the ground running, no adaptation needed. Even Marouane Chamakh made a better 1st impression than Giroud, and would probably do a similar job to Giroud.
Chamackh did not have a better first season. Torres is crap now, and Hernandez can't even get a start.
