Villa lose to United then it could be a straight shoot out between them and Wigan. Wigan's game in hand is Swansea who play the top three next and really could be on the beach by the time they go to Wigan. I think this could be a last day shoot out at the DW when it's Wigan v Villa. Until the. They have similar fixtures.
Indeed, both sides have very tough games to start off their next five, Villa have United and Wigan have Spurs, then they both have two winnable games, Villa with Sunderland and Norwich, Wigan with West Brom and Swansea, and then then once again their fourth of the five games are very tough with it being Chelsea and Arsenal respectively. Then of course there is the final day showdown. All Wigan need to do is match Villa's results and goal difference and then it will be winner takes all on the final day with Wigan the home side. Think the most important thing in the big games is damage control, particularly for Wigan, if their GD takes a licking in either game that would give them big problems.
Currently Wigan GD is one better than villa, with villa heading to Old Trafford. I think all the neutrals want it to go to that last game. If it does come to the last game, I'll be at St Mary's when a small part of me wishes I'd be at home with my Wigan supporting wife watching it (or even better at the game with her ST holding Dad).
Be a horrible game to be at if you support one of the teams...we all know that scared feeling...great if you survive, but the despair if you lose. Spoke to a QPR fan yesterday and I pointed out she would feel better and would begin to be excited again by the start of next season.
Very hard to see past a straight shoot-out between Villa and Wigan now, especially given that they are still to play each other (and hence, at least one will have to drop points in that match). Basically, all Wigan need to do between now and the last day of the season is keep the gap at it's current three points (or, obviously, improve it!) and they'll have every chance on the last day.
Amazing what one win can do down there. Before Stokes win yesterday, a lot of people were backing them to be the team that ended up in 18th. Now it seems to be between Villa and Wigan again.
That's why I couldn't understand why so people has one particular name picked out from those on poor form, be it Stoke, or Sunderland or Norwich. At this stage of the season, with so few games left, one win for any of them was always going to have a massive impact - especially if Villa and/or Wigan didn't match that win themselves. It's not so much the three points by themselves, it's the three points at this stage of the season. Stoke, Sunderland and Norwich (and Newcastle) might not be quite safe yet, but I'm sure that they all only one or two points away from being safe. I cannot see Wigan AND Villa both hitting 40 points (their GD's are too poor for 39 to save them both).
If Villa go down it'll be a travesty, they're a decent side and at least add something to the Premier League. hopefully it will be Wigan who go.

Feel sorry for Fernandes. I think his heart is in the right place, but he knows nothing about football. He needed a manager who did.
Seem to remember Jonathan Pearce saying he would be bleaching his hair blonde on the final day of the season if QPR go down. Look forward to that!
