Urgent repairs are being done at the 1st corner because a truck caught fire on some brand new tarmac! http://yfrog.com/h31umzdj
Great find WCB, that's bad news for some teams like McLaren who like having a low floor here........ GOTCHA!
at least they fix the holes in the road - unlike where I live...... I drive half-watching the surface to do a minor swerve avoiding potholes!! I'd quite like to see an F1 car bumping up and down. It'd certainly rattle their teeth.
Is it going to be this bad? Someone might find themselves having to park the car on the last corner, heaven forfend.
That looks like the marshal is trying to hold Heidfeld's foot in the fire. Maybe he did not slow down under a yellow flag.
Tarmac can take up to six weeks to 'cure' - sometimes even longer. It helps if it undergoes several temperature changes after having been laid, preferably with occasional rain. Uncured tarmac tends to be vulnerable to lifting, especially with wide section tyres at high speed, due to the low pressure zone immediately behind the tyre as it travels across the tarmac. (Each wheel acts like a big vacuum cleaner). (Westy: please accept my apologies).
Nick would be lucky to get his foot grabbed if he was speeding on yellow flags. If I was around he would get my metal toe cap in his jacobs... lol.......(silence) lol............. I'm ****ing serious Nick, and the same thing goes to the rest of you chumps in F1.
