FL are clueless and have potentially opened themselves up to other clubs (including Saints) making a legal claim against them for dishing out different penalties. Could be argued that without the -10 in League 1, Saints could have got promoted a year earlier, therefore we missed out on significant extra income. Go on Cortese, sue the FL for loss of earnings. Make the ****ers squirm
It is a strange decision for sure. I'd like to hear someone explain why they are being given what appears to be preferential treatment.
I thought We were deducted 10 points for going into administration ,so we were Pompey . However they have also been deducted 10 points for coming out of administration , the FL themselves said they would be decucted during the current season , thtis has happened . What's the problem ?
Precisely when did Saints go into administration..? If memory serves, we became insolvent after a certain date of the season and therefore the points deduction was imposed on the following season. Without looking this up I'm not at all sure.
The ruling compoany went into administration , as we were the only assosciated part , we also went I think . http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8014811.stm BTW . Am LOVING reading parts of the last paragraph LOVE to know who wrote that !!!!!
It is the perception the Football League manipulated our minus ten, waiting to see if we would be automatically relegated, and when we were, they docked them the following season, had we secured our place, they were going to use the minus ten to send us down, it was a double punishment which hasn't been used this time, it is complicated and Rupert was to blame for his timing.
That decision is joke considering it was Portsmouth who complained about the penalty being assessed at the start of the season in the first place. It doesn't really matter, since the major "penalty" has always been Portsmouth being broke in the first place. Which is why I'm a little surprised the football league would open themselves up to criticism when this was a chance to pretend they care.
They lead a charmed life. Mind you, I fully expect them to bust next year, especially as pompey locals are now running the club and therefore on the take.
Fact . Portsmouth have in FACT been deducted 20 points . The manner in which they were deducted is the problem , for some . Funny thing is that we all ( or some ) squinny about it now , but would we if it was US ? Doubt I would .....
Can't be bothered to care. We are haveing a decent season in the PL and they are in League 2 next season. Pompey are way out of my field of concern.
Yes you are correct. I tried to post that but using a phone online while on a train isn't very easy. Anyhow, the ten points we were deducted last season did make a difference between relegation and not being relegated
I agree Fran. Let them have their fun in League 2 without an additional penalty. As others have said, it will be years before they can climb out of those depths, so why should we care?
