Even in the last few seconds Holt shows what a cheating diving **** he is... But nevertheless, a good 3 points for you lot today!
That Wigan v Villa game at the end of the season looks more and more like it could be a playoff for that final spot
I think none of us want this again next year. I understand that we're not a big team and so therefore we may face a relegation battle, but I never never want this negative, craven, scared-of-our-own-shadows attitude again. If we go down, I want to go down with honour.
Holt showed experience and cleverly wasted time, wasted 2 minutes to ease off the pressure. Anyway, what a big 3 points, that should see us safe now. Other results weren't too bad as well. Also I can't see how anyone can say we were negative in this game, we had plenty of attempts on goal.
It's 3 points, which is the important thing, but we were only just good enough. The first 15 mins of the first and second half we were good, the rest we were poor. Nice to see now that we mathematically cannot finish bottom now.
I thought we improved in the 2nd half too, it was a nervy game but I thought the lads did ok and did what they had too. Hope Snodgrass is OK for the next game.
I said it on another thread that if we were to win today and Wigan were to lose, Wigan would then need to win THREE of their last five games to overtake us. We can all sleep a lot better tonight now ...........OTBC
They probably need to win two and draw one, because their goal difference would be better than ours by then. We still need something against Stoke and Villa. We are not out of the woods yet.
Given our home record (of not losing often) I think we must have at least another 2 points in the bank as a minimum
please log in to view this image I never said we weren't out of the woods completely VC, but think positive mate it helps
I actually thought that you played better and with more confidence against Arsenal away last week than you did today at home against the bottom team! Nevertheless, when you're in a relegation battle, they all count, good win for you today, but you made it far more difficult for yourselves than it needed to have been.
Other than Welly (thanks for your company btw), where are the rest of them tonight?? Guess they have not got much to say tonight.
Run in's for Wigan and Villa: Villa: United (A); Sunderland (H); Norwich (A); Chelsea (H); Wigan (A) Wigan: Spurs (H); West Brom (A); Swansea (H); Arsenal (A); Villa (H) Besides the last game of the season, if Villa get 6 points to go into the Wigan game on 40 points, they've done well. Wigan I'd say exactly the same about. That would mean them playing each other on 40 and 37 points respectively. Assuming neither of them thrash their opposition before then, they're goal difference would be practically identical going into that last game, especially when goals will count twice towards goal difference in that final game. In that scenario Wigan will need to win to survive. If we take a point off Villa, the situation is the same. With respect to us, that leaves us needing 2 points from 5 games to survive, at most. RvW hop on a plane boy!
