The Hornets are on 71 points - 7 points behind City. Today they're at home to Blackburn Rovers. Obviously, we'd like Watford to lose.....if they do we've won automatic promotion. If they win, it all drags on to Barnsley (and maybe even the final game with Cardiff). How do you see it panning out? Or daren't you look?
whoever the Blackburn manager is this week can pretty much tell his (or her) team that a win today and they are effectively safe. you look at their team and there's quality there so it's a big ask for Watford and their form is even worse than ours, nervy nervy game for both teams. our appalling point last night will see us over the line thanks to a Blackburn win, 2-0.
Fully expect Watford to win today and, to be honest, I would prefer to WIN promotion at Barnsley rather than have it handed to us on a plate.
You could well be right about Blackburn. Barnsley are away at Forest and they will want to win, in order to climb to safety. They'll have a bit of a job on, and it may well affect their performance next Saturday.
The chilling scenario is a continuation of poor form (2 games) and a 3 way tussle for 2nd on the last day. Palace have shown, just like us, that they can put a string together, whether that be wins or losses. Whose turn is it to be? Like some others, number crunching and hoping for others to drop points is fair enough, but I would far rather take the games and the promotion by what we do, not others - but I if that is the way of it we would all take it.
....and Leicester are going to go for it today, at Palace - and again, on Friday night, at home to Watford - in order to remain in the Play-offs.
I think Watford will win comfortably today. They'll have watched our performance on Tv last night and thought 'we can catch these, easily'. Let's hope if they do that it's the catalyst to give us the kick up the backside we need.
As we are seeing with the last few matches all the teams in the top 8 are losing or drawing matches they should be winning. Not sure how Watford players and particularly their fans will react to the pressure of knowing they have to really get 3 points in today's game. And to be honest i don't really care if we get promotion due to another team losing and therefore "handing it to us".
There is no real pressure - we could win our last 3 (yes ha bloody ha, one win in 7) and still all you have to do is pick up one win from your last two games. Our fans are resolved to the play offs and no matter what Zola says about not being over till the fat lady sings - Harry Redknapp is singing the same song. If we were going to have caught you we would have beaten either or both of Peterborough or Millwall. The result today could go any which way - none of the top sides are winning consistently any more. If we fail today then good luck next year - you deserve it - if we had a poll on the best fans from another team I think you would stroll it on our Board.
You are forgetting that Watford are away at Leicester next Friday night. If Watford draw against Blackburn, they would have to beat Leicester to still be in with a shout of automatic promotion.
I don't give a **** about Watford Leicester ( apart from the bit where bob lives) palace. We play Barnsley next week we will win.
