Every time we got the ball in 2008, players were urged forward and encouraged. Every time a player miss-placed a pass today there were groans and general whingeing. It's blatantly obvious that this transmits to the players. People complain every time we made a sideways or backwards pass, they know nothing of the game. The players should just keep doing what they know's best, but instead they're encouraged to launch hopeful balls into the final third which left their (****e) defence the simple task of clearing terrible long balls. I won't even go into the booing at the end as it's being discussed on another thread and was obviously appalling and embarrassing. It's like these are two completely different sets of fans and it really baffles me.

On a small side note, Quinn & Gedo pissed me off today, not just because they were **** (which they were) but because they got in our two best positions of the game (except Meyler perhaps) and both went down, in what looked like a dive or at least a soft fall (think Quinn was already struggling for balance). It's not at all like us and certainly in Gedo's situation he had a great chance to score. Just pissed me off and had to get it off my chest.

If anyone fancies a bit of perspective, if Watford lose tomorrow, we're in the Premier League.

We lacked composure tonight, probably down to a lack of experience in our youngish team, most of whom have not been in this situation before.

I look forward to a riotous party at Oakwell next week.

It was a poor performance all round tonight, but it happens.
Roll on next saturday at Barnsley, hopefully we can party.

I personally thought Brucie got it wrong tonight starting both Gedo and Fryatt, never played together before and neither really fit.

IMO it should have been Simmo and one of the above.

    Onwards and upwards.

The service was not there for Matthew and Gedo tonight- it's not as if they fluffed their chances.

    Was Elmo injured?

We have to play better thats the bottom two in four days and only 1 point, were still in an excellent position but i think the fans tonight went there nervy but deep down expecting to beat the bottom club when playing them at home, we didn't perform and it was properly one of our worst performances of the season, its a bit like running a marathon seeing the finishing line and your lungs and legs start to go, were nearly there and need one more big performance over the next two games. I think everyone as gone away flat i certainly have, i willed the lads on unlike some others sat near me but at the end of the day disappointing but another point towards promotion

Only Meyler did anything in midfield tonight, Elmo rarely ventured past the halfway line, Boyd was very poor in that role again, Quinny ineffective and Brady never beat the first man with any crosses or deadballs.

    Saving it for saturday

Elmo's been **** for 4/5 weeks now, most likely a knock of some sort.

I said it before kick-off and my opinion hasn't changed; Simmo & Boyd should've started. Fryatt and Gedo options off the bench. Proschwitz serving hot-dogs on the concourse.

He looked like he wanted to make dangerous runs towards Stockdale's goal rather than the opposition's all game. Every time the ball could be played over their full back for him to run on to he decided instead of making that run to go trotting off backwards and stand next to Chester.

The players can't win when the fans are like that,if there is no space and no obvious pass forward the players need to remain patient but our thick fans groan and force the players to make stupid passes they don't want to make and then moan even more about a misplaced pass/long ball that had no hope in the first place

The team looked a bit disjointed and short of ideas, it was a gamble playing two forwards together for the first time which didn't really pay off. moving Boyd again like the Watford game didn't work. Very disappointing and feeling a bit flat but we've still got a great chance

Anyone booing tonight or at anytime when supposedly supporting their team are a disgrace and are not fans ! They are just an embarrassment to the real fans . UTT

It's easy to be jubilent when your team is on the up, and thrashing another side like we did Watford in the Playoffs.

I still recall the fans being cagey and nervous as hell when they pulled one back, and when we were on the back foot up until Barmby scored to equalise on the night.

Barnsley will be a miles better atmosphere.

no excuse for the boo-boys.. it was different in 2008 since we'd never been to the top flight before, now there are "fans" who expect us to be back.. I thought we'd finish Top 8 this season but 2nd with 7 points lead is great..

Have to disagree. Although everyone was cagey and nervous as hell after Watford scored the first, there was no sign of getting on the players backs. The fans really got behind them, which was nothing like today.

I never said anything about getting on their backs.

I just said it was as cagey as tonight was.

Well my original post was mainly about how the fans were getting on the players backs, which they did not at all in 2008.

Well I got behind the team and sang well done to all those who did because there were quite a few , I swear some of our fans sit in silence for the entire game and the only noise they make is to boo at the end , that isn't a football match for me

Wolves wasn't. But I do agree, there should be a good turn out and we're usually quite loud at Barnsley.
