    Two of my favourites are:

Q: What's the longest word you can type using only the letters on the top row of a typewriter? A: typewriter

Q: What are the colours of the five olympic rings, and why? (1 point for the colours, one point for the reason) A: Blue, Yellow, Black, Green, Red, because every nation in the world has at least one of those colours in its flag.

    Yes a falsehood...it originally said
de Coubertin stated the following in the August, 1912 edition of Olympique:

"...the six colours [including the flag’s white background] thus combined reproduce the colours of all the nations, with no exception. The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the tri- colours of France, England and America, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Hungary, the yellow and red of Spain next to the novelties of Brazil or Australia, with old Japan and new China. Here is truly an international symbol."

But now the official line is

Olympic symbol represents the union of the five regions of the world and the meeting of athletes from throughout the world at the Olympic Games. However, no continent is represented by any specific ring. Prior to 1951, the official handbook stated that each colour corresponded to a particular continent: blue for Europe, yellow for Asia, black for Africa, green for Australia and Oceania and red for America (North and South considered as a single continent); this was removed because there was no evidence that Coubertin had intended it (the quote above was probably an afterthought).

    One of those QI factoids

Lol. "We're off to see the wizard...." ;)

Either that or "I love the word "because" because "because" gives reasons to a statement."

Q; Which of the States in the USA is round at both ends and high in the middle?
    A; OHIO.

Q; What is twice two thirds of three quarters of ten?
A; Ten. Two thirds of three quarters is two quarters (a half) and twice a half is a whole, 1x10 = 10.

Q; When a friend came to stay recently, I knocked on her door one morning and asked her a question. She answered 'Yes', so I knew she was lying. What was my question?
    A; 'Are you asleep?'

I know the green and blue go against it, but the other 3 don't sound like they're very politically correct. <yikes>

    Q) Who are the only team to have played in all 6 divisions of the Football League (cue confusion over the use of 6 rather than 4 divisions).

    A) Coventry City - played in the old Division 1 (now PL), the old D2 (now Championship), the old D3 (L1), and the old D4. They also played in both D3 North and D3 South when it was split regionally.

Grimsby might be given as an alternative answer, up to you whether to accept it or not. They played in divisions with all those names, but when they played in D3 South there was no D3 North (I've no idea why they called it South when there was no Northern equivalent).
