WATFORD F.C. v BLACKBURN ROVERS Watford host Blackburn Rovers in their penultimate home game of the season. Despite the fact that we lost to Millwall Zola still thinks we can go up. Personally, I'd just like to see the return of some form before the inevitable play-offs. A link to the play-off dates, for those interested, is here. After winning 18 of 29 Championship matches, Watford have secured just one victory in their last seven, showing how the points have dried up at the vital end-of-the-season climax. Blackburn Rovers have had a few manangers recently, with Michael Appleton 11 January 2013-19 March 2013, Henning Berg 31 October 2012-27 December 2012 and Steve Kean 13 December 2010-29 September 2012, recent casualties. Some might say the owners are clucking mad. However, now caretaker manager Gary Bowyer hasn't been doing too badly of late. In fact, Blackburn are looking for their third win on the bounce. A position Watford would have craved. However, Blackburn are still not safe as the league shows, so they will be up for this game. Will Watford? TEAM NEWS FROM THE WATFORD OBSERVER: Watford will welcome Marco Cassetti back into the squad for the game against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday but there are no fresh injuries. Hall (hamstring) is joined on the sidelines by Tommie Hoban (ankle), Neuton (shoulder), Nyron Nosworthy (ankle), John Eustace (back) and Connor Smith (knee). "The injury situation is the same as Millwall. The only difference is Marco Cassetti is back from suspension," Zola said this afternoon."Fitz Hall is much better but it wouldn't be worth risking him for this game." The Hornets go into the match against Blackburn six points behind second-placed Hull City with just three games to play. TEAM NEWS FROM THE LANCASHIRE TELEGRAPH: BRADLEY Orr and David Bentley are in contention to return to the Blackburn Rovers squad for Saturday’s trip to Watford.Orr has recovered from a rib injury and Bentley is back in training after a knee problem, with Gary Bowyer now assessing whether to select the duo for their weekend visit to Vicarage Road. 1. Big home win for us. 2. Has Steve Bruce complained about his players not being allowed an extra days rest? 3. Bristol City need to prove they are good enough for this division, just once when not playing us. 4. And I get the first response.
Really need to concentrate and get over the line and into the play-offs! Pretty football is not important, win ugly will do! COME ON YOU HORNS!
Great job with the thread, cheers! I'd like to see the team calm and composed this weekend. Maybe a take a page out of this guy's book...
Going with a return to scoring ways - it's about time! So back to my old fav of 3-1..... Nice one Mex - 5 *'s from me.
Cant see us (BRFC) winning, a draw at best. Venkys have taken a well run, mid table premier club and absolutely ****ed us up. TBH I still think we'll go down, cant see us winning any of our remaining matches.
Commiserations there mate - unfortunately I think the same (not about the result ). You got the rough end of the pineapple the day they took over. Would rather the Weeds went down than your lot.
There are a lot of teams I would rather see go down than Blackburn, I remember being happy for them when they won the Prem. Feel very sorry for the supporters in thier current situation.
It is a pity you and Hull cannot both go up as auto, its been a pleasure chatting to you both during the ups and downs. jck
Some people can be too nice . If that is really the case we'll swap our place with you then. Cheers jck, nice one. Howeer, don't worry we'll go up by the playoffs then have 6 of those points from you when Malky struggles in the Prem.
Can't agree there. The fans hounded Steve Keen for most of his three years in charge in the Prem and finally drove him out this year and he left them 3rd in the Championship. If the fans wanted him out - they got what they asked for and if relegation is a result maybe they should have a look at their own behaviour.
Leo, those were my thoughts too, but having discussed this with a friend, she is of the opinion that it was only a minority of the fan-base that were hounding him!
Rovers are the only team in the Championship that can do the double over the Hornets, this season. All losses at home have been reversed to draws or wins in the corresponding away fixture......
Hull City fan in peace. You appear to be playing teams now that are running into some form. This match has draw all over it,.
