Afternoon all. Long time no post.

Surely this is all utter tosh and nonsense what what? As much as I like Big Tone, surely this is the maddest business decision he has ever made (if at all he has made it or all rumours)?

Forget whether a stadium on scrubs is viable, the question is, why in the name of bealzebubs sweaty jock-strap are we even thinking of moving stadiums now??

We are going to be relegated this season. Over the sumer the squad is going to have to be overhauled pretty drastically. Although HR has pledged his future, its prob a 50/50 we will have a new manager. Right now what we need is just to re-evaluate the clubs goals and ambitions and take things steadily. Our first goal should be to get back in the Prem by the end of next season. Second should be to get back in check with an acheivable wage and budget structure. Third should be (and this is long-term) to at least slightly establish ourselves as a Prem club. What, I ask you, would be the point in building a brand new stadium that isn't going to be filled?

Look at Wolves for instance. Expanded their stadium whilst being relegated and now they are literally like a one-armed man hanging off the edge of a cliff with itchy balls.

I hope this is nonsense, as if the last two years has taught us anything is that we need to walk before we can run. That or I need to stop inviting TF to my acid-rave bunga bunga parties

We will not be able to get back to the Premiership (and stay there) if we do not have a new stadium in place. We will need to bring in much more revenue in gate receipts as soon as we get back. We can't put it on hold, get promoted and then start thinking about a new site all over again ... especially with developers looking for sites for many different purposes. Can't see there being any sites left locally in 3, 5 or 10 years.

What would be the harm in waiting three years? Are you saying that us getting back into the Prem is reliant on us having a new stadium? apologies if I've misunderstood your post, but that doesn't make sense...

Sorry, I didn't explain very well.

We have very little chance of staying in the Prem with the new financial rules if we only have a maximum gate of 18,000. We won't be able to pay reasonable wages and players will not want to come if that is the case. We have seen recently that the only players to sign a contract have had to be paid stupid money

The owners know this (they have learned a hard lesson). Why would they invest in getting back there if we would be almost bound to come down straight away?

A new stadium will take 2-3 years to build, if not longer if any issues are come across. To not start planning and building one now would be stupid imo.

We need a stadium big enough to fill WHEN we go back up, not after. Ok we may go back up in a years time which will be before but by then we will be well down the road to getting a new one.

I agree with Judo. TF is doing this right......he is learning from his mistakes, he is planning ahead....to be fair to the man he has gotten enough stick for not doing this.

It's not just about QPR. Football is just one of the things which will be happening there, possibly not the most important/lucrative. Be interesting to see who actually owns the stadium/complex whenever or wherever its built.

This new construction is not just about football. This is a complete entertainment venue. The owners and investors in this project will have ambitions beyond just a successful football club!! You're trying to think that building this is just about where we will be and what league we will be in - it won't matter to the owners and investors; but it sure will help significantly.

Call me Indecisive Dave if you will, but you know, I think you may be right. I've changed my mind, moving is a good idea

I think what I was getting at is that the majority of the clubs attention should be on mounting the challenge back to the Prem. I suppose that any stadium issues would be managed by off the field people anyway so this shouldn't affecton the field.

Maybe over the last couple of years I got a bit sick of living with my head in the clouds and too much talk of grandeur that never amounted to much. It sounds a bit odd, but I actually can't wait to get this season over and start the next in the Champ. I do find the Prem massively overhyped, and to be honest a bit of a let down if your not one of the few teams chllenging Utd for the title (not just saying this because of our crap season!). Would be nice to see a shake up of the current pecking order, although this too is head in cloud lands

Am I rambling? Yes I think I am

    Great thread, brimming with positivity.

Is it possible to employ the firm that put up the Euro stadia in Portugal - those guys did it in months.

Good work LoneRanger and Newbury - keep those vibes coming - we're on the up before we're even down. :)

I hope you don't build one like that, it looks like it's some cheap Argos own brand (what ever it's called) foot spa.

Apparently its the le havre stadium. Ours is going to have a conference centre, hotel plus a roof so it couldnt look like that. etc. I don't care too much about the exterior, its inside that counts. Steep double or triple tiers are a must as is the front row only being a couple of metres away from the touchline.

Agree, but the only issue with that is for fifa/uefa games to be played at the stadium (so european games or international games) there is a minimum distance that the pitch can be from the stands. Perhaps the way round this is to make the front few rows retractable. Leave them out for our games and take them back for possible fifa/uefa games.

Its never going to be used for internationals so thats not a problem, the best way to do it is have the 1st row 6-10 feet off the ground which is what most of the German stadiums do.

It also allows for more advertising as well.

Telegraph says the stadium is to be built in time for the 14-15 season!

Just in time for our promotion then.
