When you consider that in 2008 he was in the top 6 list of keepers across Europe, that must make him a heck of a keeper when he fancies it. I discount his initial performances for Saints, because he was getting upto speed. Puts young Bialkowski's disaster of a game against Blackpool into perspective though. He's since been solid, at Notts County, but I digress. I'm expecting great things from Boruc. Not only is he a fabulous shot stopper, but he's brilliant at one-on-one's and I think he's got good history elsewhere in coming for crosses. He'll just get better, in my opinion. Really pleased he's signed again.

He is absolutely Radio Rental - a legend in the making. Without him, I don`t think we`d be as comfortable as we are now - not just for his saves, but for the confidence he gives his defence - the stability of Yosh and Jos, combined with Boruc`s regular No1 status is no coincidence. I sometimes think the quality of a team is whether they have players who I`d pay individually to come and watch - Saints have a few, and Boruc is certainly one of them.

Agree 100%. A keeper should be a bit bonkers - it keeps them occupied during the quiet moments for them - and Boruc does strike me as being totally at it. If I was going to point to a weakness, I think he could lose a couple of pounds, but apart from that, I suspect he might turn out to be the best keeper since Niemi, and just maybe the best keeper since Shilton. Yep, he could be that good, imo.

There's nothing worse than a convert and I'm a Boruc convert.

One of the few player links between Aberdeen and Saints was Budgie Burridge. He wasn`t all there either.

DTLW has recently been playing the Vegard Forren role of reporting club news.... He's not, but just by knowing he's there Dan and PTF have busted a gut to keep him out ;-)

Glad to have him for another coupleof seasons. He's been fantastic since settling in to the team.

My Polish mate at work will be made up. He goes to watch Saints to watch Boruc play, the guy is a bit of a legend to many Polish fans.

He recently told me a story of Boruc returning to Poland to watch his team Legia play, he turned down VIP area tickets to stand and sing with the ultras. Brilliant.

It's been lively so far - I love a nutter, and usually Saints play it safe with youngsters with seemingly good, calm personalities.

Boruc smashes that mould and stamps on it. Here we go...

If you look at some of the better young keepers in the league, what's the biggest criticism: great shot-stoppers, but they don't claim crosses decisively enough, they don't command their area to the extent necessary. Why is this? Because they are sane, and like most sane people, they do not want to get spiked in the face, or have their shoulder dislocated because they made a flying leap through a crowd of players to punch away a ball.

Boruc has no such concerns. He wants to get kicked in the head, because it saves him the trouble of slapping himself in the side of the face for minutes on end. He'll go for a cross simply because it offers the opportunity to barrel someone over on the way. And he doesn't fear big moments because all moments are the same for him.

Other teams can have their tidy, tentative waif of a keeper. I'll take the paunchy nutter with no regard for anything but stopping the ball every time.

Brilliant summary, are you per chance a goalkeeping coach?

Great stuff. I love the fact that Boruc is:

    a) Certifiably nuts - as all good goalkeepers should be.

    b) Clearly a massive fan of football.

As an aside, can you imagine the repercussions if Carroll had tried the same on Boruc as he did on De Gea last night, it would be a full body cast for Carroll the next day I think!
