Indeed I am,but not from choice, aswan. My computer malfunctioned and the subsequent repair had removed everything. Then hotmail was replaced by outlook and I was unable to resurrect my VETCHETARIN identity because I didn't have a password. I tried on numerous occasions to sign in as VETCHETARIAN,using my new e mail address, but I was told VETCHETARIAN was already taken. Hope that makes sense. Hence LIBERTARIAN,which I don't really want.
interesting comment Vetch, my wife had a similar problem with hotmail then posting bull to a new outlook account yet my hotmail account works fine
Haven't been on here for a while...can I just ask, why are the Bloobs getting quite so much coverage on the BBC? I don't like to sound like some sort of conspiracy theorist, but they've had three special articles since they went up, Mackay is being hailed some sort of genius (why?) and on 5Live the other night they were seriously comparing their story of buying their way to the Premier League with Swansea's own underdog story. Wasn't sure which of the 'cardiff' threads to put this in, I haven't been on for a while...but seriously, what the hell? We didn't get nearly this much coverage! Hoping they do a QPR now.
Vetch, I'll have a word with brb and see if he can close your old account and swap your new name to your old.
Okay, my first post on here (on any board before I get accused of "giving it large") in absolutely ages.... I must confess this is partially driven by the fact that I saw Vetch's name mentioned above, he was always good for a debate on the old 606! Regarding the main topic of this thread, how will we do, well, who knows is the honest answer! I have seen so much dross written about us from so called respected journalists through to inane posters who, no matter what we do will never like us or give us any credit, even when due. I have no doubts whatever happens that our first season up will be very tough indeed, and concede that if we do anything near to what Swansea achieved in their first year we'll be doing well. I also don't doubt for one minute that you are likely to finish above us, you are afterall 2 years ahead of us in building a squad of Premier League quality, whereas I would hazard a guess that we will need around 5 or 6 new players to survive, let alone anything else. I'm not going to get into the whole debate about finances etc and how the 2 clubs are run... it's an old record that's been played many times before.. yes Swansea are now the epitome of a well run club, however, as we can all acknowledge, they had a clear platform to start building from whereas Cardiff have never had that... What I will say is that in Malky we do have a fairly shrewd manager, who has an eye for a bargain and will only bring in the right players to fit the squad and his systems (sound familiar Swans??). With the exception of Bellamy there are no "big" names (Frazier Campbell is about the next biggest "name") but ALL the players are people who fit the managers ethos and ALL do not have the ego's that some of our previous players carried.... It's going to be fun, and for the good of Welsh football I hope we both have successful seasons in our own rights next year, oh, and good luck in Europe too, it's been far too long since a major Welsh club was there (even if you do have to technically represent England), I was gutted we missed out against Liverpool last year, although with hindsite it may have been a blessing as I'm not sure we could have challenged in Europe and gone for the Championship title at the same time... No more posts from me on the Swans board after this one (at least until next season)... have fun guys and will see you soon!
The trick is to spend wisely and keep wages as low as you can and short contracts in your first season. Its a tough league to stay in in the first season as the odds are very slim to stay here.....spend, spend, spend wont get you anywhere except trouble. Don't pay over the odds for players and stick to a maximum of around £3-£5 million or less for any one player and if someone bids £5.5 then forget him as you could get carried away that will end in disaster.... Its all about finishing above the bottom three in the first season thats all......If you get a bad run of results then the temptation is to get rid of the manager and that is the worst thing you can do in your first season......Yes its going to be tough but run the right way then you will have a good chance of survival and thats what the first season is all about...
We have only got promotion we are not going up as champions quite yet and I am not sure any of us are too bothered if we finish second now. We are simply excited as you were when you were promoted and we are just as nervous about staying now we finally got there. You made it 2 years before us from a really bad position and you can be rightly proud. The standard of football has brought you applause from every team and to finish in the top ten is amazing. At the same time winning any game is not usually easy so we hope our teams do well that is all we can do. I would like to point out that this season the banter has been in our league with Hull and Watford and there was little point posting on any premiership board till now. Trust me we will be delighted to be posting on the Man Utd and other top clubs boards now we made it. In all fairness premiership club fans have come and congratulated us when they knew for certain we had made it. I personally do not take any notice of any fan that cannot be polite, it is competitive but it is a sport and sportsmanship should be shown when posting on another clubs board and rightly it is annoying when some simply want to run your team down without any decent effort to make a contribution. Why I would not support all welsh teams I have no idea when I am more than happy to have their welsh players in the national team. I hope this post creates a better atmosphere with the the majority os Swansea fans. jck
I thought you said you were going to be too busy on the Man U and Man City boards to talk to what is "basically a Championship side"
please log in to view this image ....Cracking post this one! I was out with Ffsdon tonight down the harvester by the Liberty (We call it HQ) and we debated this point, although we both agreed Cardiff would be the new QPR next season, but then on the way home I got to thinking on the teams and I started to think on MM, and he doesn't seem to me to be a manager who will blow it like Mark Hughes or his predecessor, matter of fact he could be the reason they stay up, but then Tin Tong came into the picture, and he seems to me to be a bit of a gangster character who could be a nightmare for Cardiff next season, but aswans view is not so implausible as it seems! Good one son..........................
