I think yes and no. I agree that when the top teams play each other, the old-fashioned big forward is history. But I do think that, against the park the bus teams, having a big man helps a lot. I don't want to come across as a Giroud-lover (why do you have to be either a lover or a hater. Is there nothing in-between?), but we need to at least accept that he does provide a service that Walcott will not give us. We have the best goal-scoring record at home in the premier league. The need to say our players are failures after every blip in form, and even a perfectly normal 0-0 result against a team well-up the league, is just bizarre.
Yes, but Walcott will offer something Giroud cant and IN MY OPINION (that's all it is with any of us) that would offer more than Giroud has to offer. And to back up my opinion Walcott has still scored more goals that Giroud.
Since he got his new contract...? When we were linked to him earlier this season I kept saying I didn't want him. There is no doubt that he can be a quality player but it seems to me that he only performs what he wants something, ie a new contract or inclusion on an international tournament etc. I predicted that he would perform as well one he signed a new contract with Arsenal or moved to someone else.
