crikey there is some doom-mongering on here! yes they could do that, but i don't think they will this season. they play nice football, but i think they are letting more in than last season.
Its not doom mongering, its stating facts. The point was made they are not going to win 3 of there last 5. The evidence says yes they will and so we can't rely on Wigan not being as good as last year.
carrabuh, that's the point i was trying to make. i don't think they are not as good as last year. they need to beat Swansea at home and west ham away on saturday.
i believe their last 5 games are in a 16 day spell. no time for recovery between games so by the third game could be running on empty. this is without injuries, which they will have no time to recover from. don't for get that with the cup run this has been a much longer season than normal for them, and at this time of year the body is beginning to feel the strain.
I've been slated on here when I've been negative, now I'm trying to put a positive slant on things I'm getting poo-pooed for that ! IMO Wigan's luck is going to run out, they should have got a least a point last night but they didn't. As carrabuh says, the've got a really difficult run in AND they have the Cup Final to think about. Also, BTW I did say "IF"
KIO, i don't think anyone is poo-poing you at all it's good there is a bit more positivity on here, it's noticable.
Is it 'doom mongering', 'negativity' or 'positivity', I don't think so. What I do know is that we are all supporters of our club and obviously want the best for it. A lot of what people have posted on here is their interpretation of the facts as they see them. What we HOPE for is not a certaintity, it's the facts that count, and the facts are that we are in a relegation dog fight with the likes of Reading, Stoke & Villa, and they are looking at us as a Winable game, and are planning to do just that!! I just have a terrible feeling that we aren't going to make it! That's NOT saying I want us to get relegated or lose games, it's just a gut feeling which I desperatly hope is wrong!!!
ILD, a few weeks ago mine was the one on the left now it's the one on the right. Think positive mate, you'll feel a whole lot better please log in to view this image
We have to go for it and take the play to Reading on Saturday. I'd like to see Whittaker start again to keep Kebe quiet and add some attacking verve - if we believe we can do it. Let's roar them home on Saturday and then aim to get a point each off the Potters, Villains and Albion and we'll be ok.
I flip from half empty to half full and back again! We NEED to beat Reading and if we do I am sure we will stay up. Isn't it strange how things work out, they relegated us from the Championship with that 2 nil home defeat and now we have to beat them at home to stay in the premier league and pretty much send them down to the Championship.
I keep thinking that Wigan are going to run out of luck this year, then I look at Stoke and their desperate situation, then I look at Villa's fixtures and think it will be them.I think we are much better situated than any of them.We are above them with arguably easier fixtures.
After 62 years attendance at Carrow Road I have come to accept that if something bad can happen to us then, no matter how likely it seems, it will!! I follow the arguement that Wigan's luck must run out sometime but then I hear how they were the better team at Man City and should have won. As unlikely as it seems I can see them somehow winning 3 of their remaining games. I can also see all the other teams in the mix with us winning at least 2 of their remaining games which leaves us needing AT LEAST 6 points to survive. If we beat Reading we give ourselves a chance - if we don't then, in my opinion, we may as well plan for life in the Championship.
I remember that night - totally depressing and I got soaked on the walk back to the car. I remember Kebe tearing us apart that night - if we keep him quiet we nullify a lot of their threat. I'd much rather remember Holty's last gasp winner in the Championship promo season and would hope for a repeat of the same tomorrow (although not leave it until injury time please - my ticker won't take it).
Tell you what, mentioning no names, but there are some on here I wouldn't want fighting alongside me in the trenches !!!
