    Afternoon folks
Probably missed Theo because he's off to the cricket, but wanted to ask what the weather's like down there- in particular, is it blowing a gale?
BECAUSE - roll on drums- Mrs GG and I are off to France for a long weekend! Portsmouth- StMalo overnight tonight, for a friend's 30th birthday party in Brittany. <cracker><ale>:emoticon-0166-cake::emoticon-0168-drink:emoticon-0159-music:emoticon-0169-dance
This will be first time we've been abroad since January 2010, which itself was 2 months before I was diagnosed. Going to find out how to do France in a wheelchair- dans un fauteuil roulante- wish me bonne chance:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Excellent news GG - hope you have a great time and don't roll into anything and get charged with RUI.

For what it's worth it is semi-sunny in west wales and no rain but a bit breezy

Indeed bonne chance GG and I hope you have a good time. <ok> My daughter crossed last night in the opposite direction and we haven't heard from her since.

The town hall in the nearest town has had a wheelchair ramp put in. It must be at least 20m long to give a gentle slope up to the steps that you need to climb to go inside the building. My local bank has had a lift installed to take you from street level to the inside, the only difficulty being that to get to the lift there is a very steep slope to get up.

I learnt a bit about life in a wheelchair for six weeks. Visited a chateau that claimed it was wheelchair friendly. It was on the ground floor, but no access to the upper ones and they still charged the same with just 1/3 of it available. The worst thing I found was trying to get the chair rolling over deep gravel.

Lowest we can finish now is 7th as Palace and Brighton can overtake us pushing us to 5th but then, of the other three who could, Forest play Leicester so only one of them can overtake - and if they draw neither of them can. Finally Bolton can if they win all three games including AT Cardiff. That assumes we lose all our matches as if we get just one point we cannot finish lower than 6th

It's a well known quote Dave but author unknown - NOT Albert Einstein as some claim

Am I being pessimistic to wonder where is that one point coming from. Or is that realistic in the light of receent form especially the last two displays.

Yes some say Albert Einstein and it is included in a list of his quotes in a slightly different form. Others have cast doubt on it, so for the time being it is mine. ;)

    I hope her name isn't Marie Celeste:emoticon-0100-smile

Our French friend has organised a gite for us with a ground floor bedroom and a wet room. I'm hoping it'll be fine

We've learned to take 'wheelchair friendly' claims this side of the channel with a pinch of salt, so really expect no difference over your side.

Ak, thanks for the cuppa - change that to all the cuppas since I last thanked you.

    Leo, have done my predictions.

Nice and sunny so far today. Have found inconsistency with the departments of the States of Jersey regarding how I provide my change of address information (although I guess this applies to a lot of jurisdictions). When informing Health and Social Security, I just phoned my doctor, e-mailed the hospital and popped in to the Social Security office (which is just round the corner from work) and they quite happily amended the details but I have to fill out a change of address form for Income Tax.

At the moment I would not bet on us getting even one point - even though 9 is not impossible. I would bet that our 71 points is enough though

I'm hoping for 6 points from the last 3 games. Have no idea which ones we'll win but it will be 2 of them!! Better stop typing now as my confidence in the team is starting to dwindle....

I've probably missed you, GG, because you've probably set off by now. The good news is that, though it's been periodically very windy today, this eveing it's died down so you should have a reasonably calm crossing. Hope you have a great time...just enjoyed a glass of Henri Baudouin pastis myself!

Back from the cricket now...a Carberry ton in quick time against modest bowling and a long chat with a bloke who collects punk vinyl. You meet some characters at cricket!

That's a kind offer, Leo. Thanks. I'll PM you.

Theo - did you get the details of the punk vinyl collector? I have a few quite rare items that I am considering selling. Cheers

i'm not sure how many of us there are...will probably find you somewhere, though you might be half cut by the time i do ;)

Thanks for the caramel latte Ak ...hope the snow stops soon!

Great news GG, have a fab time!

I have to agree, i can only assume that the points will come from the Leicester game, since it's the only team in the top 6, and we do better against top 6 teams...however, it's a Friday game, and we never win those...so i have no idea!

Night night my lovely little canary! <smooch>

As cricket has been mentioned earlier, if anyone follows Middlesex, they're over here 24th to 26th June to play a couple of T20 warm-up matches before the county competition starts on 28th and the game against the island side is also a warm-up for their World Cricket League Division 6 campaign in July. The other match is against a Brookes MacDonald (MCCC sponsors) Select XI. Unfortunately, I think our fellow Watford fan won't be part of the Panthers squad due to his England commitments.

Only that he lives in Newbury and sells pensions for a living. He watches Hampshire intermittently so I'll keep an eye open for him and mention your rare items if I see him.
