So with a North vs South Korean war very possible, should we be worried?

I have a feeling some other communist or enemy nation could join in this conflict by supplying arms, which could piss members of the UN off big time. Maybe this will lead to a world wide squeeky bum time.

I really hope everything can be resolved without killing.

My thoughts are with the families in Korea.

It will escalate and the US will move swiftly and decisively to cut the head off the North Korean snake.
The UN are worse than FIFA for burying their heads in the sand.

If China backed N Korea in the event of a war, which I believe they very well could do, it would be the end of the world as we know it..

As far as I know, even the communist countries (Cuba, China) are slightly "denouncing" North Korea for their recent nuclear fiasco.

The problem with a country like North Korea is that they're economically third-world, and they still look to nuclear power to make themselves out as a powerhouse nation when their country is even struggling to feed itself!

I don't think the war in Korea(if it happens) will result in anything big that spreads to the world since 99% of countries are against what they are trying to do.

However , that happening might make the UN look feeble if nothing is done about it. As always the US might be at the forefront, but that is still going to be a knock on the UN's ability to fulfill it's vision and aims.

It's all bluster and will more than likely come to nothing. It's becoming more apparent a lot of provocation is coming from the American side and China are starting to realise this and are publicly stating their annoyance with America. They would of course because the whole thing has come as a great excuse for America to assign a large military presence in the area furthering enormously their "Pacific Century" geostrategic intentions for the area.

I think most of this is just America trying to find a way to accumulate enough brownie points (not the good ones) from the rest of the world to get rid of another stumbling block to their international influence. North Korea want to tell America to **** off but can only do that by threatening war. If anything does kick off it wont be America or nato or us that fixes it. When it came down to it China would soon smash anyone setting off nukes on their doorstep (or this time realistically threatening to do so).

China is the most powerful country on earth now, never mind in that region. They are also the most capitalist in many ways. They would use the situation to make themselves more powerful, just as any of the other people involved would do.

To be fair they probably all just need a nice cup of tea and a chocolate digestive!

If something will happen it will go as followed: North Korea will shell the RoK, maybe even Seoul, which is a major major hub to the world economy. People on the ground will die. The South Koreans will respond within the hour and hit the artillery which hit them and probably knock it out with precision fire. If the north then continues firing with other artillery or missiles the US will step in and knock out air defence and communication and all artillery the north has with a massive air campaign. This would probably start overnight. The americans have been gearing up for this contigency, they've had plans in place for this for the last 30 years. Hopefully the chinese will then step in and move peacekeeping troops into north korea and hopefully lead to some kind of transition of power, maybe they can find a puppet general who plays along. In any case, RoK and the US do not want to cross the DMZ and go into north korea with ground troops. There's absolutely no reason to go there and a **** load of crazed north korean soldiers ready to run at them. They'll just knock out everything they have from the air and sea. The north can't invade the south by ground, they can't cross the DMZ and they have no fuel to mobilise their army.

If this happens South Korean economy and production will take a massive hit, just by being under fire, even if there's no severe substantial damage to infrastructure, it'll take them months maybe years to get back on track. And south korea is a major driving force of the world economy. We'd all feel the effects of such a conflict. North korea will be back in the stoneage. They already know have very little power and water and any kind of bombing campaign would obliterate all those.

It's a very dangerous situation because there are hundreds of players in this, officers in charge of artillery batteries or air defence systems that might just press the button, automated system on all the warships that fire by themselves if they identify a threat.

China would never get involved, for two reasons:

Firstly their pilots can't see over the dash.

Secondly they have nothing to gain. By going to war with the west, their exports would almost stop and their economy would crumble to nothing overnight. To do this whilst establishing yourself as a world superpower, that's suicide. They would instantly become the poorest nation on earth when imports from China are banned, you'd see hundreds of millions of people unemployed with no state benefit.

America does a good job of protecting it's overseas interests, they heavily supply Israel with aviation technology to make sure they're geographically well supplied if they went all out war vs the Middle East, and they do the same with India and other countries in the far east.

The idea of North Korea trying to go to war with America is laughable, it wouldn't be a war, it would be like turning up to an F1 race to compete and as everybody races past you, you look down and realise that you have your legs inside the hollowed out carcass of a dead Labrador.

To put this entire farce into perspective - North Korea as a nation has a GDP of 12Bn USD - realistically, this country couldn't afford to go to war with Roman Abramovic.
