I think that valuation is a fair one and for that, I'd like to see him back.
If we can get Pierre Aubameyang too, then we will have a decent forward line with quite a few options IMHO.
I fear that, to pay the £20m for the pair we may need to sell a player though... unless MA parts with some of the £60m Sky cash....

A final thought... at the end of the day football is a business and is it worth Liverpool having an expensive asset on the bench or in the reserves, earninig £80k a week for the sake of a £5-7m difference in valuation...?

Returns policy: Newcastle interested in Andy Carroll.. but only for £25m LESS than Liverpool bought him for
    16 Apr 2013 22:30

West Ham can't afford him but a return to Tyneside is on the cards if Brendan Rodgers is prepared to take a massive loss

Andy Carroll is on Newcastle's radar for a summer transfer - but only at a knockdown £10million price.

Carroll is hitting top form at West Ham and will face Manchester United tonight.

However, the Hammers can't afford a long term deal and he will return to Liverpool in the summer.

Anfield chief Brendan Rodgers is undecided whether Carroll has a future on Merseyside, but admitted last week the club has not missed his presence.

The indications are that Carroll will be shipped out again and Newcastle want to bring him home for a staggering £25m less than they sold him to Liverpool for two years ago.

Newcastle's No1 target in the summer is an extra striker having lost Demba Ba in January, and powerful Carroll would allow them to mix up their tactics.

Chief scout Graham Carr has also watched St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with owner Mike Ashley with a view to a £10 million swoop.

The Geordies are ready to play hard ball with Liverpool who themselves tried to nick Hatem Ben Arfa on the cheap in Jaunary. Rodgers is expected to call again in the summer for the French winger.

Alan Pardew wants to keep regenerating his squad, and wants to correct a bad away record and poor returns from set pieces, especially their long term inability to score from corners

Fat Sham said his wages were a major issue but I think AC would take a drop in wages to come home, I really do cos I would.

Why are we pursuing him so vigorously. No thanks, there are better options out there for £10m

Throw in the fact that he is a local lad and would be playing out of his skin for you, will get him noticed a lot more in the media, and by boot manafacturers etc. Loads of opportunity for extra sponsorship deals for him to earn a little extra more pocket money

Fergie got him booked though. Ranted at the ref about an unpunished challenge. Ref later gave a yellow for something innocuous. Typical stuff.

Carroll was a battering ram at the heart of West Ham's attack last night. Rooney stood on Carroll's foot prior to a corner and Carroll kind of pushed him back with his foot. He then ran headfirst in the Man Ure keeper from the resultant corner almost knocking De Gea and Ezra out.

In the second half, Carroll caught Viduc in the face with a flailing arm/elbow. Carroll tried to excuse himself to Viduc at the end of the game but the Mac defender was having none of it.

I really don't class the likes of Carroll as "dirty". He's a bruiser and a good old English fashioned battering ram.

The real dirty players are the ones that go in with potential leg breaking tackles with studs digging into peoples knees. The worst you'll come out of in a match vs Andy Carroll is a slip lip...... and being blind in one eye the next morning LOL.

but Vidic gives him a little shove with his forearm
to help him on his way

Aye, none of these players are angels. I quite liked what Collins did to Rooney at that corner, Rooney made a pest of himself and Collins just pushed him over. And then Rooney complained to the ref....what a tit.

Carroll impressed me last night. He was very unlucky not to score, just missing left hand side of net with a sweet shot.

Rooney's a giver not a taker, but he didn't fully understand what the good book meant.

Yeah, we had a ****ter against him last night. Can't argue that. He seems to be getting some confidence and form back into his game, good on him.

Rooney was as stroppy as ever last night, I was happy to see him dragged off eventually his passion for the game seems to be going so I really don't see him playing for us for too much longer. Usually when this happens to Rooney it's shortly followed by a media revelation about his private life!

Vidic wanted Carroll punished for the elbow but he's not the type to dwell on it, he's been given the runaround by Carroll in the past and he'll recover from it again. West Ham were unlucky last night, they deserved the 3 points.
