Rules: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/143227-brb-prediction-league-rules-2012-13

brb thoughts ahead of the big game: I could probably tell you many a story about AFC Wimbledon, having thought long and hard what to write ahead of this game. However, all I would do is repeat old stories that I have told many a time before. Right from the first time I ever visited Plough Lane, when at that time this once Southern League club had begun their historic climb through the leagues, having witnessed that climb at that time as Division Three Champions, known as Wimbledon FC, when their supporters invaded the pitch in celebration. I have even earlier memories as a young lad of a certain player named Dickie Guy. For the younger generations I suggest you google that name. The famous penalty save, in the FA Cup taken by Peter Lorimer, who was playing at that time for I believe the then Division One (Premier League) champions Leeds United. So I don’t deny the Dons, Wombles, even known as the Crazy Gang held a faint place in my heart as a supporter in the lower tiers of our game. Then to modern day, when AFC Wimbledon bring over 1,100 supporters to Priestfield and take home the points in a thrilling 3-4 encounter on a return to league football from their once stolen club . So it is no surprise that this Saturday’s meeting is a sell-out but for slightly different reasons, Gillingham FC are the one's on the verge of etching a place in the history books as the League Two Champions (Old Division Four) 2012/13 in their centenary season. We only need one point or for Port Vale to drop a point and we will be crowned Champions. Hopefully AFC Wimbledon will not spoil the party. I am even happy to share the points. To this traditionalist this will be a special day for me. Two lower league clubs coming head to head. The visitors fighting for their league survival, while the home side will be in want of lifting the crown for the first time since 1964. There is a lot wrong with the modern game but nearly 11,000 supporters will grace our stadium with the passion and vocal support that is a dying breed. I just hope on Saturday that the wombles do not break my heart but for some reason this season I have felt that fate has decided the League Two title will have the name of the team from the Medway Towns etched on it courtesy of MAdDog. Crazy Gang & MAdDog eh, what’s in a name, nothing more than how football supporters are able to recite the passion of the working class game. Will we look back on this game in a decade or two's time with happy memories, when the time strikes 5pm on Saturday 20th April we will know the answer. One thing for sure at this moment in time, this is a big day for every Gillingham supporter. Every Gillingham supporter expects, stake your place ahead of our big day and post your prediction, thoughts welcome... Gillingham ? v ? AFC Wimbledon (???)
As I follow both teams it will be a draw for me - Gills 1 (Burton) v. AFC Wimbledon 1 (L. Moore). As much as I love to see Keds on the scoresheet, it will be awkward for him as how does he celebrate a goal that would help win the title for the team he supports against his old side!! Apologises BRB as I know you want everyone to make their predicitions short
As Alwaysright has corrected accurately I am going for: Gills 4 - 0 Dons (me x4) I have got a good feeling about the scorer!
Gills 2 ( Whelpdale and Burton) Uncle Bulgaria's 'B' team 0. No disrespect meant. A festival atmosphere and 'football' being the winner. Too much to ask for. I will be travelling back from France with a really scratchy medium wave reception........as bad as the reception going down last Saturday when we lost (B***er) at Cheltenham. Oh to have held on to that one defeat away record..........
I fear my chance of winning the 2012/13 brb prediction league is all but over Gillingham 3-0 AFC Wimbledon (Kedwell, Barrett, Lee)
Gills 1 Wimbledon 1 ( Kedwell, Midson) Nervy game i feel and no walkover as the dons need the points as much as us
Here's my prediction Some Gills fans who were there when we beat Halifax to stay in the league ....won't be there Some Gills fans who witnessed the 1-0 win over Blackpool after 13 defeats .....won't be there Some Gills fans who have watched the team play at Carslisle......you get the point !! The club takes all our details when we buy tickets and they know who the 1500 or so fans are that have seen them play in all corners of the country are. But fall foul of the economy and lose your season ticket and you too could miss the only league winning game in the 34 years you have followed the club !!! The Result ....past caring ! The future ...not at Priestfield....never again ! :-(
Born Again Gill Would you like the number for the Samaritans ? I'd be distraught - you have my genuine sympathy
