Look at sunderland. 10 clean sheets and in huge danger 2. newcastle, great keeper no clean sheets not really in danger. 3. swansea, lousy season right? nope 4. hart on top means city are fabulous... eh no. 5. chelsea having a lousy year.... could finish 5th... This is a case of damned lies and statistics. the only thing that matters is games won.
LFC didn't put him so... does it seriously matter? the real table has us 7th, sunderland are way down in the ****e..... cheslea are desperately unhappy given their spending level.. yet all keepers are on the same rate.
It's a team game. Obviously the keeper is a significant factor in keeping clean sheets, but he's hardly the only one. It's just something to give statisticians to do to keep them from roaming the streets.
I'm not sure these stats belong to the keepers names. Reina and Vorm have both missed games injured and Llorris has rotated with Friedel. EDIT: I research this and I am wrong.
What are you doing on a thread about clean sheets Queenie?? When was the last time your sheets were clean? ****er
We are also very high on the goal scoring table. The problem is that we dont seem to get the goals and the clean sheet together often enough, and never just concede one goals. This has led to to many 2-2 (4), 1-1 (3) 0-0 (4)draws. That is 11 draws. But a few of these we have thrown away because of a lack of concentration (Arsenal, City twice). We have also been hit by shock defeats for the same reason. West Brom twice, Southampton, Stoke, Aston Villa. We are capable of scoring the goals. We are capable of clean sheets. But we are yet to find the balance between the two. We have had some big exciting wins, and some shocking defeats, and some bore and frustrating draws. We would have more points from balancing it out and winning a lot of games 1-0.
Pretty much. Has always seemed like an excuse just to add another award onto the end of season bash. More excuse for footballers to get pissed and big themselves up. Like they need one! And as saint points out, it's more down to the defenders and the overall team mentality than anything else. Mourinho, Benitez and Mancini's tactics have probably contributed more to their keepers winning the golden glove than the keepers themselves.
The only excuse was Andy Gray's excuse for slagging off zonal, despite Reina having three golden Gloves when Cech and VDS only had one each. There are lies, damned lies and statistics. The muppets without stats who say that don't even have the sense to realise that sentence sets stats apart from lies. The lies are coming in the form of crap statless muppets spout without any data to substantiate their bogus contentions, for example, "Lucas only ever passes sideways and backwards." That's always been a damned lie. One stat can't prove anything but no stats to back up a claim proves you're talking crap.
