Let's just hope that he hasn't managed to stop them playing like Leeds Donkeys before the end of the season.
Have you seen that the managers of Leeds United and Leeds Rhinos are both named Brian McDermott and both teams have a winger called Ryan Hall, glad I don't work for Leeds radio.
Shame Millwall fans have dragged the game through the gutter again tonight. A small minority maybe but still too many.
Sounds as things are not working out for Harry. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/14/qpr-everton-harry-redknapp Maybe not working out for the owners either. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/apr/16/qpr-bank-loan-tony-fernandes Will it finish up as Barclays Rangers?
Has the gap between playoffs and relegation ever been tighter at this stage of the season? With three games left, only one team has nothing to play for (Bristol City).
It is always a difficult league to predict, on any given day any championship side is capable of beating any other, it makes the league far more exciting than the Premiership, where an unexpected result is always classed as a shock!
There has been quite a lot of comment about bad referee decisions this season. Posh seems to think that they have been hard done by, and this tends to support it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22188785 Do we think that refs are getting worse, they have always been bad, or that we just need to accept that sometimes they will get a decision wrong while there will be a lot of correct ones?
There have been some absolute howlers this season in all divisions, I suppose the fact that six of them have phoned DF to apologise is a good sign, but I would hope for more consistent competence, aided by technology now that they are finally installing goal-line technology!
I think the goal line technology is a bit of a red herring. One or two doubtful ones a season for a club, but how many times do we get into the last man debate, the offside argument, or the dangerous tackle fury? The trouble is that I can see people wanting the hawkeye type machines to judge lots of other things that they are not capable of.
I sort of agree ofh, but if a 5th official had a screen, all Prem games are televised, he could look at contentious decisions from all the various angles in seconds and stand a much better chance of calling it correctly than the man in the middle who has one chance to view it at normal speed!
So are you saying that because a club is not in the Prem they will have to lump it? Don't think you are, but why should Aldershot have a worse system than Arsenal.
I don't WANT it to be Prem only, but I think the cost of installation will be prohibitive to the lower league clubs, unless Sky stump up the cash!
Maybe, maybe not - I suspect the calls were all a result of fear of DF's old man as none of those refs have been reported as phoning GZ to apologise, and we sure as heck have had ample cause to expect them to do so. Ditto - thin edge of the wedge as far as I'm concerned, and aimed at incidents that are as rare as hen's teeth - even in Blackburn. I think that refs really are getting worse - and that is mainly down to the unfair pressure & unrealistically high expectations placed upon them by all and sundry. Quite what would change that is anyone's guess - but somehow bringing a return to sportsmanship within the game would go a long way - ie stop the far-from-perfect-themselves players from haranguing refs over every decision that they disagree with, stop players from cheating every opportunity they get (I defy anyone to name just one player who doesn't do this). And if that is neither possible nor acceptable, how about stopping the need for those after-the-event apology calls by creating a system whereby contentious decisions can be reviewed using video evidence - and reversed where warranted? That could be the job of a fifth match official, done on an ongoing basis and announced at the end of each half of a match.
I have to tell you BB, your explanation of the reasoning behind DF getting the phone calls made me laugh out loud, and I wouldn't mind betting you're not a million miles from the truth!
refs have been steadily getting worse, and this season they've been beyond ridiculous at times. And not just refs, the linos too. Someone needs to do something about referee training!
