We have as much chance of beating City as Wigan have of beating us at home?

That is a big chance then.

Pretty sure words on a forum won't affect the lads mate.

It's most of the librarians at the Lane that aren't helping though. I've never known WHL to be so quiet, really annoys me.

That's the difference for me this season. - I think AVB has really worked at making the players believe in themselves.
We'll have more of a "we deserve to be competing" attitude, rather than a "we've done well and punched above our weight", attitude of the past.

I think both AVB and Harry are great motivators/ man managers. Both have had their successes with different players.

Under Harry, Walker, Ekotto, Adebayor, Parker (and Luka and Rafa) flourished.

Under AVB, Lennon, Bale, Defoe (1st half of season), Sandro (pre-injury) and Vertonghen are flourishing where as the ones under Harry not so much.

Both managers have also changed their views on the squad in fairness, both have said "Spurs can be challenging for the title" near the start of seasons yet coming into the business end, both have mentioned that top 4 is an achievement. So I wouldn't say our mentality has changed much, if at all.

Pessimists are more prepared for the worst :)

I think I prefer being pessimistic more so than optimistic in all honesty.

I remember when we were in CL and I was trying to be so positive and optimistic about our chances of beating or even drawing with Madrid at the Bernabeu only to be crushed 4-0, that really hurt on the inside. Since then, I've tried to remain more realistic/ pessimistic and you feel a little more prepared for a loss, even though it still ****ing hurts! <laugh>

What's harry and his impact on certain players got to do with this mate? You've lost me a bit.

All I'm saying is that AVB has come in as a manager who has won trophies recently and installed a winning mentality. Before hand, no one else we've had in charge (in 10 years+) has had that conviction, because they don't have anything to back it up.

Maybe I read it wrong but it came across to me as you were saying AVB has made the players believe in themselves.

Something I think Harry also done.

I thought you were trying to compare the new regime to the old, so I was saying I actually see many similarities, sorry if I got it wrong.

EDIT: In fairness Ramos had a pretty impressive record, back to back UEFA Cups.

I think we should look into why that happened instead of just using it as a comparison. Were City at full strength and playing well?...no, they were at there most ****e back in Feb, with no defence...

"Saints, meanwhile, move six points clear of the relegation zone. They thoroughly deserved their first win under new boss Mauricio Pochettino but this is a game that will be remembered for City's defensive horror show, coupled with careless passing and lethargic attacks, which leaves their hopes of retaining their crown in tatters.

City had arrived at St Mary's with the best defensive record in the top flight but, in the absence of captain Vincent Kompany and his regular partner Matija Nastasic, they showed precious little authority in their back-four."

No Tevez either who has revitalised them.

So should we just give them the three points and not bother?

Reading back, I can why you put what you put. <ok>

But I wasn't actually referring to harry or having a dig at any other manager. The emphasis was actually on how AVB is different rather than what anyone else had done wrong. Almost that AVB is a refreshing change is that makes sense?

crossed wires. Text can be such a bitch at times.
