Absolutely, it's probably a long shot to hope this performance will rub off on them because the youth style is almost like watching a different game, but it was fantastic to see Holt had dragged the entire first team there and they looked like they were pretty enthusiastic
I was there tonight and the crows was fantastic. There were about 20 or so of the younger 'academy' players (I'd guess 10-12 years old) sitting in the corner of the city stand and they hardly stopped singing al night. Wel done Neeyul!!!!! PLEASE, ALL those going to CR on Saturday, take a lesson from tonight's crowd!!!!
Just caught up with the game (recorded earlier...glad I took the overrun option for recording live events) Solid performance tonight, especially doing so well with 10 men for a good chunk of the game. And 5 cracking penalties. The lads done good! When is the final starting?
Just seen this in the EDP report - "Chris Hughton and his entire first team squad were in attendance, along with nearly 10,000 fans, and Adams hopes his young side’s heroics can inspire the senior stars ahead of Saturday’s Premier League game against Reading." The final will also be over 2 legs and will defeinitely be going to that assuming it's 'home and away'. Great to see so many childfren in the crowd last night!!!!
I thought he looked like a class act. Very composed (e.g. The goal line clearance at end of first half) and is obviously one of the set piece specialists (always over the ball for direct free kicks, first penalty taker). Is he on a professional contract yet???
Let's hope so soon he was very good. Also like the look of the captain in central mid (can't remember his name) and Carlton Morris who held the ball up excellently One question to all, how come we have a keeper from saints on work experience playing for us? Are ours injured
So so far, we rate Toffolo, Wyatt, McGeehan (sp?), both Murphy's and Morris. That's a pretty high percentage of the squad!
and probably only one will make it into our first team. the rest will make it at smaller clubs (which of course is fine too) i do like the look of both the murphys.
Several of the lads were on twitter last night, buzzing about the result - obviously, but also the fact that there were nearly 10,000 in to watch. I'll guess it will be nearer 15/16,000 for the home leg of the final How good to see lower Barclay, lower River End and City Stand all virtually full The first 30/35 minutes was attacking football at it's finest. Pace, movement, mazy runs, trickery on the ball - heart warming stuff. Obviously we couldn't sustain that for 90 minutes and Florist got into it much more. Great entertainment and a wonderful advert for football - well done David McNally and the club for getting it so right. (He really HAS learned from the Capital One cup game versus Tottenham, hasn't he!)
thoroughly entertaining match. agree about Harry Toffolo, he was immense last night. the skill level was superb from our team and bodes well for the future.
It was great to see so many parents taking their children to the game and OK, there will be a few tired kids in school today - but what an experience for them.
Just reading the EDP article (which obviously isn't biased in the slightest ) but just read that the last time we won was when "Dave Stringerâs side lifted the prestigious national trophy back in 1983." I know many rate Stringer highly as one of the best managers we've had (a few years before my time). Can one of the older posters tell me whether some of that FA youth cup winning team filtered through to the first team? As we reach undoubtedly the highest level for our club in the following years... 30 years on... perhaps a repeat in history?
I went last night too. As others have said, it was a really great game of football. I was impressed with McGeehan's captaining of the team; keeping them going, geeing them up as they flagged. Just watched the Canaries Player interview with him. What an articulate. level-headed, and downright nice young man!
Normally parents who take very young kids to football get right on my tits, most of the time they just want to go to the loo, or roll around on the floor or spend the whole game kicking the back of your seat, but last night was a fantastic atmosphere and I enjoyed it!!
I watched both legs and was pleasantly surprised at the lack of scripted tactics, particularly by us. Although, perhaps giving to to the Murphy's as soon as possible could be construed as tactics. Yes, we know they sometimes overdid it but I don't think that matters just yet. Morris impressed me immensely. Even though he had a bit of a mare first hour when he always took the wrong option, he never stopped looking for it and he was always dependable as the out ball from the touchline. I think he carried us during extra time when we needed time for everybody to move up from which were understandably deep positions. The skipper had an outstanding game as well. He is a bit of a one trick pony at times but covered in front of the back four so well and made sure their advantage in midfield wasn't too obvious. Toffolo looks an athlete and will get bigger in the next three years and he is definitely a fine prospect with his ability to read the gamee and cover so well. The crowd of course were like an 11th man. I know the price helped but to get that many and probably many "new" Canaries was a credit to the people of the area and I must admit Efan Ekoku said many nice words about Norwich and its supporters.
