Fee's can really effect a player, they could crumble under pressure, they could gain a huge ego. I think £12m for Eriksson + £12m for someone else could be much better spend elsewhere.

 

No - I rather look at individual fees rather than the total. This is why I will consider Carroll one of the worst deals in history despite us receiving £50m for Torres.

Saving money on one player is excellent and shows good negotiation skills and value for money. It's not an excuse to p1ss all of those savings on another player who is not worth the extra amount.

5mil or 6mil or 2 mi its al lthe same with ashley bloody williams.... he is another PAUL BLOODY KONCHESKY. its a waste of a squad slot, giving a guy only out for one big deal that retirement fund and frankly he's a donkey more suited to wigan than us. if we want top 4 we need to target either potential or class acts..... not guys proven to be run of the mill, average and honestly already at whatever best it could be described as.

hodgson bought poulsen.. knochesky, jones... purslow reputedly brought in cole.. just about the only decent signing fo that era was merieles who proved a total merc and was apparently lined up via agents in rafa's time.... so... again if rodgers wants average run of the mill ****e like williams he can phook back to swansea or reading where he belongs.

I have no probelm with a punt on assaidi, its not like we don't see many of that type come and go in the prem.. or for example hang round and end up at newcastle or everton as utd cycle them through. BUT we have to spot the talent and be the ones making deal ebfore they come to england, not buying english league trash.

 

Would you be happy to have Mereiles and Konchesky for a combined £13m? Include Joe Cole to if you like.

LFC have 25 squad slots. in reality we use 21 of them for seniors.

We have a real lack of top 4 quality already, if we waste our lives pissing about looking at the like of ashely puking williams (i've decided this is how i'm going to address him all summer if required) we may as well close the stadium and just make the whole thing one big museum and move down to tranmere's ground to play in league one where said puking player belongs.

Dalglish kicked Poulson and Konchesky out because they were rubbish. We dont know what is up with Assaidi. I agree with most of what you say though.

I think we do have a fair amount of fight, passion and dedication in the squad. But we need more, along with more experience, creativity, skill and spark.

 

Regardless of how much we spend on Ash Willy's transfer fee... still have to account for salary too. Wouldn't want to be leaking £40k a week on someone not good enough.

Rodgers cares a lot about how he is perceived by the fans, it's why he bums us at every opportunity. If he cares that much he would stay the **** away from Williams.

 

People can say a lot of things about A.Williams but to say he'll have no heart, fight or desire is bullshit. He is on record as being a massive boyhood Red so would instantly give that little bit more effort, but he'd also feel the pressure of living up to his idols (John Barnes?)

Can't say I'd be delighted by his signing though. 12m is a lot for an unproven centre back.

 

As much as I don't want Ashley Williams, he would add experience, leadership and fight. But there are better players out there (technically speaking) and we should be targeting them.

 

Furthermore - Echo reporting that we want Williams for £8m. I still feel that it's about £2m too much for him.

The only good thing is that Arsenal are after Williams as well ...
