I keep reading posts about how some of you out there can't stand other teams message boards because they are obnoxious & think they deserve it. Well here's a reality check for you, you sound exactly the same, SMUG because we are sitting in 2nd. Why are we 2nd? Because we have been very lucky. We have lost to some awful teams, I'm not talking about performances as I haven't seen the games, but just the piss poor relegation threatened teams that we, if we are to believe we are that good sitting in 2nd, should be beating. How many times have we had a match day where all the results go for us & then we **** it up. Let's just get over the line before celebrations begin & being smug. Regardless of if we go up automatically or end up in the play offs, can some people just stop slagging off the other teams. We have failed to really turn our possession in most games into a dominant scoreline, we have scraped past most teams & then dropped points against others we should have beaten. IF we go up, we need a striker, simple as that, Koren, Boyd, Simpson are not strikers, I don't know about Pros, Fryatt is our only striker, Gedo maybe can make it if we sign him. There's still a long way to go, 270 minutes plus stoppage time to get 4 points to guarantee us going up, this team needs to get their arses into gear this Friday. Even though Bristol have gone down, they can now relax, they have nothing to lose, they'll come out fighting & try & **** us up.
It doesn't matter too much who we have got now. Most teams get 11 new players when they get promoted. We'd have to change even more than we did last time - IF we get promoted.
Well I don't know about any of that Brucebones. I haven't heard too much smugness. I have read a lot of posts, including my own, that exude a fair amount of excitement and these vary from the extremely optimistic to the overly cautious and everything in between. Surely, getting excited and making predictions is all part and parcel of being an enthusiastic supporter. I can agree with you that on some occasions this season we have been lucky, on others we have not played well or to our potential but many times we have been unlucky! As to your comments that it's not all over yet, I suppose that's stating the bleeding obvious, as is your comment that we will need to strengthen the squad if promoted. I think it's reasonable to point out however, that we have been without some of our best players for large parts of the season and I reckon, as we approach the final stages of a very exciting season, the team and it's management deserve congratulations rather than what comes across - even though this might not have been your intention - as mean spirited criticism.
It is a league. Everyone plays everyone else twice. We have got more points off other teams than anyone else barring Cardiff. Which teams we lose to is irrelevant. The other clubs have lost to lower teams as well.Nothing like Hull people when it comes to glasses being half empty.
Have BBC News on my Smartphone and they are quoting Cardiff owner saying they will spend £25 million 'wisely' on recruitment for next season.
I cant believe that first poster. Wasn't he there when we stuffed Millwall out of sight. Wasn't he there when were stuffed Leeds. Wasn't he there when we stuffed Brum. There have been some exceptional performances home and away. We all know that we have had a striking problem but the fact is that had Aluko and Fryatt not been injured we would have pissed this division.
Bloody hell, and here i sit thinking this is the best season i have had as a Hull City supporter ever.
Scarb. We are not promoted yet and we will remain **** until we are and I refuse to be happy until we are promoted and rhen our team will not be good enough and wot if ManU come in for SB...rant rant.I am so angry with only being 6 points clear.Oust the Allams .Get in the Council to run the club.Life is so **** and cruel-I may not even take my flask to Barnsley. What would be the point.Even if we get promo I bet Mrs Cafe would have put too much milk in my tea and I bet the sky will not be cloudless.Steve Bruce-hang your head in shame for destroying my happiness! Can I get a refund?
Brucebones , what on earth are you going on about ? Just enjoy it , these are the good times , maybe you didn't see the bad times
I will be very surprised if we get more than 5 in and the same out. Certainly don't see us getting in 11, unless in the first few games we find we are getting battered, then we might get some loan signings in before the window closes.
At least our defence isn't as bad as Palaces......Jesus!! Have you seen the goals they let in last night?
I agree with your general point. However, there are an unusually high number of players out of contract this Summer, and as we will need both a stronger and deeper squad to have any chance of survival next season, I think the numbers in and out will exceed your estimate.
Absolute bollocks. Cardiff have lead the league for 21 weeks, they've also been beaten by Peterborugh twice, Charlton and Bristol City (the team that got relegated last night), they should have beaten all those teams, so do they not deserve promotion and are they just lucky? Peterborough have beaten Cardiff twice, us, Watford, Leicester and Bolton, does that mean their in a false position and should be near the top? We are second because we have had better results over 43 games than 22 other teams in this division, doesn't matter which teams we picked up points against the fact is we've picked up enough points to be in the automatic promotion places. As you've barely seen the team play this season (your on words) I suggest you stop calling those that have seen the team week in week out smug and start listening to what they have to say, they have a more informed opinion than you.
Exactly. A few people last night were saying we were only 2nd because other teams were losing it. Bollocks. Over the season we have got enough points to be in this position and only last Saturday carved open a 6 point lead through a victory of our own.
Hull City fans are the total opposite of smug. TBH some of us might add a few years to our lives if we could be a bit more like that, but unfortunately we're genetically hard-wired to constantly bounce from pure elation to manic depression with little in between. By comparison site's like the Crystal Palace one are incredibly smug with posters thinking they have a divine right to success while talking disdainfully about the fact that we are impudently sitting in their spot. I thought your reference to "the piss poor relegation threatened teams" was smug. These teams have proven they can beat anyone on their day and now they are completely focussed on their task. We play relegated Bristol City next who have already gained the 40 points that are usually needed for safety. To criticise City for scraping past these teams is both disrespectful to them and us. Finally to say "Why are we 2nd? Because we have been very lucky." is pretty sad and very dismissive of the huge effort the whole club have made to get into this position. The Championship is tough for every team. The results each week show that no team can expect to win any game. Leicester, Palace and Watford are struggling to win any of their games, early season favourites like Wolves and Blackburn are fighting relegation, yet we continue to "scrape" wins that keep us in a covetted automatic position. Just a bit of credit where it's due is all I'm saying.
I can honestly say that this season has seen us play the best football I have ever seen us play. We keep the ball well, defend well, create a heap of chances and are very entertaining to watch for the most part. Although the score line doesn't really show it we batter most teams. Yes we have a blip every now and then but which team.doesn't? We're better than 22 other teams in this division and deserve to be where we are. We've playyed fantastically all season and have showed great determination to both bounce back and grind out a result when needed. We're a far better team now than we were when we last got promoted.
