Congratulations to Heidar Helguson and Matthew Connolly That is now Conners third promotion in a row! Extraordinary stat! And this time I believe he is going to get some regular game time in the Prem. Still only 25 and a classy centreback. They got him for a snip (£500k). And if they were to do the same mistake we did and get rid then we should not hesitate getting him back, he's synonymous with promotion ffs! Checked out the Bristol City squad after their relegation was confirmed and there is a couple of decent players in it (even though they got relegated, sound familiar?). -GK: Tom Heaton. We know him, can be a good keeper and with Cesar departing getting him on a free as his contract run out this summer could be a smart move. -CB: Lewin Nyatanga. Welsh international with 34 caps. Only 24 years of age and represent both future potential and Championship & international experience. -Midfielders: Neil Kilkenny, Paul Anderson, Albert Adomah and Marvin Elliott. All talented players. Kilkenny is a brilliant passer of the ball. Anderson a tricky winger. Adomah lightning quick, Walcott'esque but without any skill. Elliott, decent hardworking allround midfielder. -Forwards: Sam Baldock and Steve Davies. Baldock is a very talented player who with the right leadership can make it, only 24. Same goes for Davies who's 25. Not saying we should go out and sign all of them. But one or two could really do a job in squad role, and they would be available pretty cheap. I'd bring in Heaton, Nyatanga and maybe Adomah or Baldock. Any views?
Means we will play Cardiff again then, and Samba will need to sit on Heidar. 3rd time up for Connolly, but he had to step down twice to Reading and then Cardiff if I remember right. Maybe he'll have to again! He seemed a bit slow and unsure of himself to me with us in the PL, but think he often came on as LB, which wasn't his best position.
Your football knowledge is amazing Norway. Not just globally, but also in the lower divisions. Incredible.
You saying we stay up? To be fair to Connolly he was discarded by Warnock at the expense of Anton Ferdinand for four times the wages, one of the worst decissions made by our club. Sent on a season long loan to Reading, helped them to promotion but only came back to the club with a new manager in charge in Hughes who also wanted his own men and consequently got sold to Cardiff. All I'm saying is he is a proven Championship centreback and would do a job if we could get him back. But I'm afraid Cardiff isn't as dumb as us.
It's never nice getting reminded about all my useless knowledge If only I could have used some of my "hard disk space" for something I could make a profession of But thanks anyway, I guess
Of course. We not down yet, and it is still in our hands, maybe! 5 Wins and 39 points could keep us up. But I must echo Nines! All respect to your football knowledge. You must win a lot of these Pub Quizes - even the ones with focus on Bristol City midfield!

There's some really weird stats as well this season. With 3 games left 1 of the teams in the drop zone has 51 points already so it could easily take 55 points or more to stay up. The gap between 1st and 3rd is the same as the gap between the playoffs and the relegation zone (13 points). We could be promoted in 2nd place with 17 defeats. (we've got 14, and if we lost our last 3 Watford would still need to win 2 from 3 or Palace 4 from 4) Middlesbrough have 21 defeats (50% at the start of play), and when they took the lead tonight it was reported as getting their playoff chase back on track. Brighton have already drawn 18 games and are in the playoffs - so much for being able to draw too many games to get promoted.
Im one of his biggest fans but hes got to be 36 now, I dont think we should go back. I remember talking to him after we got promoted and he hadnt even been offered a contract then, he was treated poorly by us.
Thanks for that Ricardo, that makes very interesting reading. So, lets say for instance that we do.. a-hem.. go down. This should be a good indicator to the Championship. A good solid side should in all probability end up in one of the top two spots? *** Praying ***
Most alarmed when waiting in the pub before meeting my missus and got a text saying "Oh my God! Just got kissed by Frank Nouble!" Thankfully, just on the hand during the goal celebrations... :0/
Providing you have the ability to consistently break down ****ty teams that come to timewaste from the 1st minute of the game you should be ok. That's where our weakness has been, but we've improved on it this year (hence Burnley getting beaten by us for once). We've even had sides timewasting at 1-0 down in recent seasons because they know we're crap against it. I wouldn't mind if it was teams full of crap players, but Burnley (you might notice I hate Burnley for it) have got the likes of Charlie Austin in the team and still come to waste time for 90 minutes. It's not even keeping possession and doing nothing with it, it's outright timewasting, they even make double susbstitutions after the keeper has got the ball, and he's still not ready to take the goal kick when they've finished.
It always makes me laugh when teams do this, most of the time they concede if they timewaste too early, I remember Cardiff doing it with 9 men at LR and there should have been about 6 mins, we scored but the ref only gave 2 mins because he probably thought they shouldnt benefit from their own timewasting. Ive thought we should play 2 30 min halves with the clock only going in play, that would stop all time wasting.
Easily the best and most consistent team this year, ignoring their dickhead followers I had the misfortune to come across in may 2003, I'm happy for their genuine fans a few of whom I've come across since then.
But of course, how could I forget. A model pro who did very well for us both in the Champ and the Prem.
