Just before I set off, can I say NIGEL PEARSON?

Although Bruce has clearly taken us that step further than NP, I doubt we'd have the situation we have now if Pearson had not come in, steadied the ship and brought in the likes of Chester, Hobbs, Fryatt and Koren.

Pearson refused to divulge club secrets to the fans and didn't want to be pals with the local media.

For some of our 'fans', these crimes outrank all other achievements.

He also identified a formation that best suited the players we had. I think anyone could have kept us up the first season following relegation. We just didn't employ a manager who didn't understand the English league let alone the Championship.

It'll really take off in the next week or so if results go one of a few ways for us tonight and on Friday so that we haven't sealed it yet. We could have Leicester mathematically eliminating Palace from the promotion race this weekend, and then taking Watford out of it next Friday as well.

Pearson spent about £5 million on players while he was here, hardly doing it on limited money is it?

Exactly beat me to it. Look at how Brucey has utilised the players that were already here. Simmo mcshane were outcasts.

Why are we talking about this **** on tonight of all nights. He's a ****er who can't handle good players ego's. turned wood from a goal machine into a winger. **** him.

Go Steve Bruce's black n amber army

Certainly does, that was some good scouting there. However, he was also responsible for James Harper, Peter Gulacsi, Aaron McLean, Dele Adebola, Matty Mainwaring Tijani Belaid and Martin Pusic. Not so good.

McLean aside (who was his most expensive ever signing before going back to Leicester <laugh>) they were all frees and gulasci a loan.

The worst point about his recruitment was opting for McLean instead of Charlie Austin for the sake of saving 300k. That sure paid off <doh>

Suspect that was not his decision.

I hope so. But I also hope his bosses show as much loyalty to his current "work in progress" as he showed to his own in his last employment before the season's end.

He did well for us, but ultimately didn't have sufficient faith in his own ability not to jump ship. Why should we revere him?

Brownie is a different matter and should have been allowed to see the job through.

Don't think Adam exactly covered himself in glory in his 2nd spell at the helm - apart from attracting the investment that is.

You'd think not, but I'm sure the Allams would have stretched an extra 300k if Pearson had of presented a case of how much better a player he was.

But maybe, just maybe, that 300k he saved bought James Chester, in which case he did the right thing by my book (other than I'm sure he could have found someone of higher quality for 1.3 mil than McLean).

Apart from building the base of our current team, Pearson stopped the rot when we were total ****e coming out the Prem in 2010. We got taken apart at Millwall and Cardiff.

We had Solano and Gardener at the New Den and a lot of players past by their sell by date.

He slowly but surely got rid of most of the dross and turned us from the team that never won away to the team that always won away.

The job he did in turning this ship around should not be underestimated.

Definitely not, but I think some people overestimate it, in the way they make out only Pearson could have managed it.

He did the job he was employed to do. That's all.

I don't underestimate that but if he had as much faith in his own success as you seem to have, he wouldn;t have jined the millionaire's party in a job he wasn't deemed good enough for 18 months prior.

I respect the job he did for us. I don;t respect the man for the way he left and I think even the playoffs is a failure for him in his current post.

Give me Bruce anyday..... and I wouldn't be alone in feeling there would be some justice served the day I see a "pearson's done one" thread appear on this board.

You only need to see Bburn and Wolves this season to see that stopping the rot is not an easy task, and both of these clubs have far better squads than us when we came down.
