OT The Boston Marathon

What makes it even more appalling is the fact that these people were running for charity.

 

They're talking about an 8yr old boy being among the dead. Heartbreaking.

 

Latest figures according the bbc: 3 dead; 140+ injured, at least 17 critically.

The **** is wrong with society?

 

Doesn't seem quite right from a Church.

 

America is turning bad.

 

Comes to something when the Church in America turns bad. Always thought the Church was supposed to forgive sinners, not condone terrible atrocities against innocent people.

 

I'm no fan of America (my ex wife was american - long story) but we can't hold this one against them, or the churches for that matter. Westboro Baptist are the ones that Louis Theroux did one of his documentaries about. They are the most hated group in America, with some very very twisted views. If the police escort they get whenever they go out were ever to disappear I believe they would be making headlines for different reasons!

 

America has always been an incredibly helpful, friendly and violent society. It's no worse (in fact, in many ways much better) than it used to be. I mean, who do you think paid for all the bombs that the IRA set off ? By and large, the good people of the United States, and especially Boston.

 

Large Irish settlement in Boston, hence the name Boston Celtics for the Ice Hockey team.

They thought I was Irish when I went into a bar over there once and all wanted to buy me drinks.

 

and I am sure you put them all straight before they dipped into their pockets?

 

But of course!

 

I lived in Atlanta for a year and was often mistaken for being Irish. Let's just say it never hurt

Well I had a Scottish accent at the time so I used to correct them. They liked the Scots even better! Ahh what a year that was

 

Incredibly disappointed with the whole thing, even more so with the people ironically hijacking it for their own quasi-religious/political bull&*^%...

It sounds like the bomber's used remote detonation, which is even more cowardly. If they haven't I hope when they get to wherever it is they think killing innocent people gets them, they realise they've horribly misread the contract and it says "72 lookalikes of the virgin owner, Richard Branson"...

Been away and only saw snippets of news. Just dreadful.

 

Good luck to anyone doing The London Marathon. Lets hope runners and spectators all get home safe.

At least it looks like they've already caught (killed) one of the suspects from boston and closing in on the second. I just hope the backlash doesn't turn out to be as bloody as the original event, whoever was responsible and whatever community they claim to represent.
