Who? As has been said before, all the clubs in the top 4 or 5 have at least one top, established keeper. I think he might go to Liverpool though, they keep getting linked with keepers.
Begovic to Liverpool ? thats the end of his career. And on the question of Swartz stalling on his signing, although having a good season,at 41 next birthday, his illustrious career is coming to an end,and its our clubs future which must have priority, over sentimentality Thus my reason for saying we must go for a quality keeper,we cannot hope that youth and inexpierance will see us through.
Well, rumours are that Fergie is looking for a new number 1, and there were spells this season where Cech looked less than he once was. Also, Arsenal have apparently made enquiries about Begovic (they were quoted £15m, which I think puts him out of our price range). I agree that Spurs and Man City won't be interested, but all the other top 4 wannabes are potential destinations for him. If Everton can find the readies, I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see them replace Howard either. I'm sorry, but I just don't see the argument that there's nowhere for him to go. As for Vorm and Krul, they would both be excellent signings, but if they leave their current clubs it will be for bigger than us. If Sunderland complete their self-destruction and go down, Mignolet would be worth going for (although he may well end up somewhere bigger too).
I can't agree with that Captain, De Gea has had the media on his back all season but he's come good and I think Fergie will stick with him. Cech may well leave Chelsea, but they still have one of the best young keepers in the world in Courtois to fill his shoes. If Arsenal stump up £15m for a goalkeeper I'll eat my own face
With the final day antics of Steklenberg fresh in the memory, I can see us going back in for him. He played this weekend for Rome in the derby so it may not be so simple, but I am sure he will be desperate to move on. Would be a great signing.
Didn't his agent say there was no chance of a deal being resurrected a month or two back? I agree though, he would be a good signing.
A while back swansea were interested in Stockdale, i would have thought that has now gone by the board, nevertheless it would be nice to see us stump up some hard cash for quality. What 8 or so years age we paid 7m for VDS. For me its still Beggo, Krull, Vorm.
Blimey, an article on the BBC about us that isn't a match report. Jol talks about his intention to shore up midfield and buy a goalkeeper in the summer. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22170429
An awful lot of "probably". However the good sign (apart from Jol's commitment) is that wee seem prepared to act quickly round this time around. Just on the media - the Metro ran a similar story but couldn't resist the attention grabbbing headline
