Morning all, ............................................. please log in to view this image McDermott has ruled Leeds United skipper Lee Peltier out of his plans for tonight’s Roses encounter with Burnley. The former Leicester City and Huddersfield Town defender, who has impressed since his switch to centre-half, is struggling with the ankle problem which forced him to miss Saturday’s derby with Sheffield Wednesday – after he failed a fitness test. Better news sees England U21 centre-back Tom Lees back in the fray after completing a three-match ban. Michael Brown serves the second game of his two-match ban. Therefore the bacl four are likey to be Byram at right back, Drury at left back with Lees and Warnock at centre back. Stephen Warnock, who captained the side in Peltier’s absence on Saturday, is likely to be fit despite coming off with an ankle knock late on during the weekend triumph over the Owls. Burnley, seeking their first double over United since 1926-27 tonight, are boosted by the return of loan midfielder Alex Kacanikilic from a stomach bug. But Joseph Mills is likely to be sidelined with a stomach bug, with Michael Duff (calf) out.
Morning Elland. Should be a good game. With McD. in charge, I suddenly feel much more confident. Win or lose tonight, I think we'll see a better brand of footy being played and a Manager not afraid to change things if plan A isn't working. I'll plump for another 2-1 to Leeds
Mornin all. I particularly liked Varneys interview yesterday saying McDermott kept shouting at the players to pass, pass, pass on Saturday. Also liked McDermott saying he would never blame any player after a match, all about building confidence. Seems intent on doing everything the opposite to Warnock and that can only be a good thing. It'll be interesting to see if Morisson starts tonight. If we have to get rid of him in the summer, which is likely, we'll suffer a huge financial loss. With a long contract and decent wages, I can't see anyone wantin to touch the useless lump
Morning all Warnock for Captain again? I'd say so & I'd give him the arm band Permanently. Burnley's going to be a tough one but we beat an in form Wendies & we are at home, so yeah I'm with Boggers 2-1 Question is, when we score in the first half again? Could it be tonight? Wish I was there, theres a certain magic at Elland road when late kick offs are on
Eire, I would like to think Morison will sort himself out eventually. But I would think Varney & McCormack will start up front with Morison & possibly Somma on the bench. In an ideal world, where would Poleon play, up top or out wide? Either way, I can see him breaking through next season, along with Dawson.
Morning all - Let's turn it on tonight, I fancy 2-0 up at half time and then with 20 minutes to go we can have a proper look at Poleon - Read Varney's comments on Sky Sports text - McDermott was inspirational at half time and his constant screams of PASS PASS PASS were ringing in everyone's ears.... Now while I agree it is positive to hear I can't help but feel a few players are going to be looking to 'blame' past performances totally on NW's shoulders. Yes NW has a lot to answer for but so do 'most' of the 11 who have turned out on the pitch week after week. Varney and McCormack to start up front for me, if Varney can bag another tonight maybe just maybe it could be the start of a decent combination.
Poleon is a striker. He doesnt defend enough/track back to be played on the wing which has limited his chances. Best of out on loan playing up tops to show us he is worth a punt as we have Varney/Rosco/Diouf/Somma/Morrison currently ahead of him that can play up tops
The team I'd probably play based on the performances against the wendies would be: ----------------------------Kenny-------------------------- Byram------------Lees--------Pearce-------Warnock(c) Green------------Tonge---------Austin---------Diouf -------------------RosCo--------Varney----------------- Also, I just watched a replay of the Liverpool Reading game and I was thinking is there any possible way of McDermott's link to McCarthy somehow getting him to sign for us. He did supposedly enjoy it here last time. He was magnificent, one of the best goalkeeping displays you'll see I think
Well, the suns shining so I'm off for a pint. I shouldnt really as its in the week but who am I kidding, I will be having one later when listening to the game so why not get a headstart.
The problem with McCarthy's display against Liverpool is that we already knew how good he is - now everyone else does too Reckon he's earned himself a big money move to stay in the PL on that performance alone, possibly to Liverpool as a replacement for Reina - either way he won't be coming back to us anytime soon
Yea I know, he is def PL standard and if someone doesn't buy him in the PL it'll be there loss. Personally I can see him going to either Southampton or one of the promoted sides. Someone like that, he'd make a mistake going to Liverpool imo
Pearce is a liability..... ----------------------------Kenny-------------------------- Byram------------Lees--------Warnock-------Drury Green------------Dawson---------Tonge---------Norris -------------------RosCo--------Varney-----------------
Agreed. Liverpool are a spent force in football. Only a matter of time till Suarez leaves and Gerrard retires, then it'll really be goodbye from them. I won't lose any sleep as I hate them as much as the scum
We should have put a 500k bid in after the loan reading have 2 other international keepers they would have accepted bates is a twat look at the players we had chances to sign le fondre n hooper where cheap
Nah Pearce is good but makes too many silly mistakes. If he cuts them out he would be an ever-present, also Warnock isn't a CB and from what I heard the goal was his fault, he's not a bad defender by any stretch but playing a player out of position can make mistakes. He actually provides us with possibly the two best full backs we have had in years but he actually provides quite a threat down the left as well, I'd prefer him there. Also I don't think you can play two more attacking midfield players in the middle, you either need Green or Austin in there for me. Am I the only person that doesn't like Norris? Coutinho looks good but as you say it is a matter of time. I just don't think it'd be a good move for McCarthy. And YBH, Reading always knew what sort of keeper they had on their books. I doubt they woulda accepted a bid of just 500k. I am worried about our goalkeeping situation though, anyone know of how Cairns progression is going?
Because he's a "Warnock signing". A player Warnock was desperate to get hold of so badly that he basically tore the team apart to do it, and now he's failing to fill the boots of his predecessor.
So I believe and the reason we will never be able to get shut of him. Just hope McD is able to get some good out of him
