For once Marko, reference to Tom Lees not funny. Our running club will have had plenty taking part in that. I still hope it was an accident and that it was found to be gas bottles or something. But the words clutching and straws sspring to mind.
Dont think it looks like being an accident. A poor eight year old boy killed in it. The US certainly has their fair share of nutters unfortunately
A terrible act. Every sports spectator should hope this isn't the start of a campaign against sporting events.
Got a few friends running the London Marathon this week and a few that just completed the Brighton half marathon. From a selfish point of view thank god it happened over there. Its being treated as an act of terrorism by the authorities, lets just hope they catch them as love or loath the US they dont **** around when it comes to doing time in there jails & they dont get it cushty either. I would have suspected the majority of runners would have been competing for various charities as well.

Would find it hard to believe that its home grown, unless of course he/she has become a radicalised muslim. Then as the shoebomber showed, everything else logical falls away. Time will tell but with a certain funeral tomorrow, footy at the weekend, and the London marathon on Sunday, timing of this event, if it proves to be terrorism, couldn't have been worse for thos in charge of security here.
It has indeed been a sad event, but it's worth pointing out that this is almost a daily event in Baghdad, and rarely gets reported. That's even sadder!
Every time a bomb goes off in Baghdad it gets reported. The difference is that it's such a regular occurrence that we just sigh and say "not again" before switching to a different channel. Baghdad is a warzone and as sad as it is, it is expected. Boston Massachusetts is not a warzone and nobody could have predicted this. There's no logic behind attacking a sports event where the best of humanity is shown in all aspects.
I make jokes about sad situations to stop myself from going into a huge depression about how **** the world is.

Marko, Baghdad is not a war zone. That war ended a number of years ago when Saddam was overcome. What I actually meant was that the reporting was not on the same scale. Life is cheap in the 3rd world, and this is reflected in the media. Note that most attacks in Baghdad are in markets, bus stops etc. No different from a sports event.
The little boy was there to see his Dad cross the finish line - cannot begin to imagine how his Dad is feeling right now. All the money he probably raised doing such a good thing and his life ruined by these scum bags - unfortunately, the death penalty was abolished in Massachussets in the 80's but think they might make an exception here!!
And I'm sure Afghanistan isn't a war zone any more since Osama was killed? That's why my uncle just spent 5 months out there... and why we still have troops in Iraq.

Actually our armed forces are significantly better than theirs, they just have higher numbers. Better trained and we never get caught in friendly fire incidents.
Really!?!?!?!? Seems like there was a major one just a few years ago, could have been in Iraq, but I believe it was in Afghanistan.
