...far too many counting chickens at this point in time. After all this is Hull City you know? Calm down girls! The fat lady needs to sing yet......as I say, this is Hull City.....
It's a bit of a culture-shock to see optimistic Hull City fans, but it makes a change from the usual moaning negativity.
We have a manager with bags of experience and who has been in this situation before, a team of players who are confident and have a great togetherness, we've been consistent all season and Watford are having a blip of one win in 6. I think we have good reason to be confident.
It's probably a generational thing. Older supporters still have memories of seasons like Div 2 70/71 when we blew it, although we were never in such a strong position as this season. The longer you've supported City the more disappointments you've experienced, hence the trepidation portrayed by Mussie.
How long have you been a Hull City fan? I repeat, this is Hull City!!! I know ardent members of the Coach 1 crew who are still waiting for the customary Hull City screw-up!
I'm not the oldest fan on this forum so not as long as a lot on here But I think some people are so desperate for us to **** up so they can say "typical Hull ****ty"
True. For the majority of my City supporting life we were going from League 2 to the Prem. The first season I can remember supporting them was 1998/99, so in 15 seasons, I've seen 3 promotions (very likely to be 4 soon) and 1 relegation. Pretty lucky, really.
We're 6 points clear of 3rd with 4 games to go why the hell not be upbeat and confident, far better than the only 4 seasons ago where it was an absolute challenge just being up for a game knowing full well we were gonna lose, or even the football served up by NP, right now i'm gonna enjoy these last 4 games and watch City play some quality football under a great manager and having that feeling that we're gonna win everytime the team steps onto the pitch.
may i correct your thoughts a little. Due to goal difference, we are 5 points clear of 3rd with 4 to play. My glass is half empty, as is the state of mind of the real Hull City fans
perhaps its all about angling and livening up debate before we start to talk about attendances for Friday and what went wrong at Wolves?
That isn't fair, you can't define what a fan is by their expectations. Yes, history states that we would do well to curb our hopes and excitement but then, where's the fun in that? If you have a negative frame of mind going into this and we don't go up, you won't get any kudos for saying 'I told you this would happen'. Let people enjoy the moment. Yes, we aren't over the line yet but what's wrong with a bit of over-expectation? Nobody expected us to be here at the start of the season, so who are you to say that those of us ( I've been a fan since 93) who are glass half full aren't real fans? If you want to live in the past and bore on about what happened in the 70's follow Forest or Leeds, but don't you dare tell people not to get carried away because if you can't, what's the point in being a football fan?
68-69 my first season and i've seen all the ups and downs so i'll wait until it's certain. Nervous as **** though
The reason why I'm quietly confident is not because I think we're incapable of screwing up tonight or vs bristol... It's because I don't see watford getting more than a couple wins out of their last 4 games...
