I'm not sure (in fact, I have no idea) how to go about creating clever polls or surveys, complete with little buttons next to players names; perhaps someone else can do that. If there were one, I'd be taking my mouse to Andrew Taylor's name and clicking there. I don't think anyone would have imagined themselves doing such a thing seven months ago, but for me, he has grown like no other player. He's been a consistent, no frills, determined player whose character has been the personification of Cardiff City under Malky. He may not be premier league but I think he's improved so much that he might play an important part for us.
Andy Taylor's massive improvement this year has gone somewhat under the radar with that sort of comment directed at Huds. We've always said he's not the quickest over the ground, but his awareness supporting his colleagues on that left side more than makes up for that. He overlaps so well and funnels back behind his centre mid when required. His crosses on the angle are as good as Conway's or even better for the pace he gets on them. All he needs (and deserves) now is a goal in these last four games.
I'd put Gunnar in the same 'rock solid all season' bracket. The fact he's our 2nd top scorer probably swings it his way IMO. That's not to take anything from Taylor, I'd be interested to see how many assists he has this season. If we'd played Kimbo all year.........
Place your vote for your player of the season. It would only allow a choice of 15 so hopefully I haven't missed out someone obvious.
First in. Played in all league games, 17 clean sheets so far, Scotland's No. 1!!! Closely folowed by Hudson (who would probably have got it were it not for his injury) and Taylor. However, they are all heroes, not forgetting Conway, Gestede, Barnett, Nugent, Ralls, Lappin and anyone else Taff, and I, might have missed.
BfB, I was restricted to 15 options so could not put the whole squad in the list. What your saying is true and it does look as if we used the squad even though some of us, myself included, kept screaming for rotation! It's a funny old game.
Hudson, not for his wonderful goal in the 94th minute against Huddersfield in the first game of the season, which started our record home run, Not for what he has done on the pitch, awesome as it may be, But for being a Captain in the true sense of the word. Even injured he is still the captain and you can bet he is there with everyone else cajoling nudging and urging the team to do better, to succeed to improve. you cannot buy that!!!!
Nicky maynard has been our best player this season.... Seriously though; I think Hudson has been POTS. Some could argue for gestede - Most goals per games for us (except for Campbell)
good man. Pleased the hint was taken. Thanks. I agree that most players deserve a mention. They'll all go down in city history.
for me its between hudson and marshall, but i'll go for marshall. best keeper in the league now, has won us points and 16(?) clean sheets with 4 in the last 4 is proof of that. he's steadily improved every season he's been here but in this one in particular he's gone up a level that i personally didnt think he had in him. not just his saves, distribution and communication with the back 4 have been really good and he deserves a shot at being a PL keeper next year.....
they have all been brill like most comments above there are some very good cases for lots of players and i agree with alot of what has been said in this thread already. That said you show me a player that has had a good game, scored a cracker, made a great tackle and i'll point out a keeper that made a save that kept us in a game, won us a match or stopped a defeat. Marshell has been outstanding and is my pick by far!!!!
Agree ccfc, I had to vote for marshall, he has been outstanding all season. After I voted for him he went and pulled off an absolute stunner of a save tonight. What a goalkeeper he is. I was disappointed when we didn't manage to keep hold of Schmeichel, but I think we've got a far better keeper in Marshall.
THat Marshall save at the Grange end haad me close to changing my mind this morning, but I'm sticking with Taylor, who was also excellent last night.
Bellamy. I've never seen a player work harder for a team in all my life. Over the season he must have put in more tackles and crosses than the whole team combined! Credit to all of them, they've all been brilliant! I also thought Gunnar was great last night
