Harry says it will be hard to shift players with the wages their own. We might get money for players like Remy but not for others like Wright-Philips on £50k a week. We may be stuck with these types of players and that to me is a depressing thought for next season if we go down.
What about Samba? he's on 100k+ a week. same with other players like Park, Granero, Hoilett, SWP, Cesar.... Like to see how large the wage bill is.
Last Summer, more than ever before was the most crucial transfer window our club needed to get right and failed miserably. By default this coming Summer is now the Mother of all Summers. Tony, Harry & Beard really need to prove themselves here, we need a rock solid spine consisting of: Keeper - Cesar must go (on way too much money) - Green to take over unconditionally as No. 1 and someone to get his head right. Defence - Hill no longer up to the job even in NPC, Ferdinand definitely not up to it, Samba might or might not stay - Even so 2 excellent central defenders a must - Onouha/Traore should be up to the job in NPC and stay. Have no clue about Young and Suk. Bosingwa likely to be sticking around as well!!! Midfield - Faurlin if his head's right/ Jenas will do a job/ SWP will do a job in NPC - albeit an expensive one! Park/Granero/Mbia/Diakite/Barton/Derry/Hoillett - Let them all go Taraabt will go himself Forwards - The real problem - Due to either being injury prone, useless or suffering mental illness these do not cut the Dijon - Jamie "poor man's Walters"Mackie , Djibril "I'm a complete fruitcake" Cisse, Andy "Do I get discount for repeat medical treatment?" Johnson, Bobby "I don't like football and I'm 4 years past my sell by date" Zamora, Betty "why did they give me a girl's name as nickname?" Bothroyd and finally DJ (They really can't like me) Campbell. We will pull up no trees with our full current squad - we must clear out this dead, decaying, rotting and rotten wood. It is by no means going to be easy but Harry and TF have worn their hearts on their sleeves and made public the distain they hold towards the majority of this squad. Hold on for another bumpy ride - not being the merchant of doom but those of you thinking that we're going to stroll the NPC with this squad are frankly deluded. So in conclusion - Keep - Green, Traore, Yuk Soung, Luke Young, Samba - (if poss),Onouha, Faurlin, SWP, Jenas and maybe DJ. The rest can all do one if we can get rid somehow.
Jeez Danish that is a depressing read! Even more so when I find myself agreeing with most of it! I'd keep Diakite though. Give him the support needed and he'll be a cracking central midfielder for us.
Problem is Norway that the support he seems to require is more in keeping with men in white coats rather than men in hoops!
Whatever it takes mate (that was actually the support I was referring to) Of course, but a winning mentality isn't forged overnight. What's you guesstimate Stan? 50/50 or better?
Its a hard job to harry during the summer. Trying to sell lots and lots high prices and high earning mercenaries who really have proven themselves attitudes to disabled. If he succeded in that we will be fine and should be bounce back very soon.
We shouldn't struggle with this squad - Green Traore Hill M'Bia Onouha Jenas Faurlin Diakite Tarbs Bothroyd DJ Bench - Young Suk AJ Hulse Hogan Harriman Murphy Haim Hoilett Mackie Ehmer Doughty Derry Andrade Balanta Sutherland Magri Out - Barton Remy Samba Park Granero Cisse Zamora Bosingwa Cesar SWP Ferdinand Time to get the youngsters in
That looks pretty good to me Wubba. Ideally I'd like to see Samba (unlikely) and Remy (virtually impossible) stay, and Townsend (unlikely) loaned for another season.
For me, its not about being good, its about having the right attitude and players are going to need to dig in even harder in the NPC and we havent got the players to do that.
We might come straight back up, because we would have the best Players, the best Manager, the best Board, the best Supporters, and the possibly the most money in the Championship
I think people under estimate the work that needs doing. We will have the core left of a good team but need a lot of work to get up to scratch, the Championship is a graveyard to teams that don't put in 100% on the pitch each game and our players have struggle to show 80% in a lot games.
I think you´ll find I posted something of that nature on another thread - lack of passion, lack of pride for the whole campaign
That squad wont stand up to a full season of NPC football. We only just managed it last time with a squad better than that. There is no depth there imo. Youngsters are ok, but you cant rely on a fair amount of them for a full NPC season.
