I might be wrong here, but I have an inkling that we might go 4-4-2 for this one. 3 games in 6 days is asking a lot of Faye and with losing Evans we're short of defensively solid central midfielders. Also means the wide players have less space to cover with an eye on Friday. Also, I'm sure we will have looked at that formation in training last week when Hobbs was a serious doubt for Ipswich. Is it just possible we might go something like this? Stockdale Fathi, Chester, Hobbs, Rosenior Elmo, Meyler, Quinn, Brady Boyd Simpson Bench: Jakupovic, Dawson, Faye, Cairney, Koren, Fryatt, Proschwitz ....Or Brady at LB with Koren drifting in from the left of midfield? According to the Wolves fans they seem to have a problem with closing down space in-front of their back 4, which Koren could slip into when Brady is pushing on.
Gedo is in the squad, but faces a late fitness, Evans is both suspended and injured, otherwise no new injuries.
Wolverhampton are in a right old mess team wise. Now they have lost Jamie O'Hara. Old men and not bothereds left. As for Hull City with Evans injured and suspended and some struggling (SB interview with Burnsy) I think that the starting eleven (get some fresh legs involved) maybe something like this :- Stockdale Rosenoir Chester Faye Brady Elmohamady Meyler Fathi Quinn Koren (c) Boyd subs : - Jakupovic - Dawson - Hobbs - Cairney - Fryatt - Proschwitz - Simpson
Don't see Boyd as a natural for that role leading the line, so Simmo and Boyd up front, RoKo either in the centre or drifting in from the left.
I think he will stay with his 3-5-2 formation, and he did hint in his interview that Koren being rested may get a start tomorrow night, but I am sure Brucey will know what is the best line up.
This could be a banana skin. A point would not be too bad. One thing is for sure they will be up for it unless they don't want to do it for Saunders. We get a point tomorrow, win on Friday and win at Barnsley...Job done.
i agree with Bum Chin and Duffen, a point from this is a good result, hope people aren't expecting the win as a given here. I don't know any team in the world that just gives up and gets relegated with it all to play for, Mr Tickles observation of them 'being old men and not bothered'; well I hope our players don't think like that. My only worry now is that we don't play well after a few days break but hopefully Koren/Fathis freshness can give us something extra. Also Simpson has just got to start scoring soon, why not tomorrow. (somebody will no doubt tell me he's out injured or something now)
I would also feel a draw was a good result, Wolves will be fighti8ng for their lives, so it won't be easy. However hope for a tight 0-1 win for City.
I think the team will be taking each match one at a time, Bruce knows what he needs to do in this situation - he'll be trying to keep promotion out of the players minds so they can be focused on the job in hand, winning matches.
on paper we could kill them. it's never that simple Bruce will have us play professionally & I agree a point would be useful here.
I know it means nothing, but the Wolves fans reaaaaally aren't expecting to get anything. http://www.wolvesblog.com/5836/wolves-vs-hull-city-preview
Wow they are pessimistic, but as you say it means nothing. However if City could get an early goal, and the crowd go against the team, then that could work in our favour. If I was Brucey I would be saying to the team, win this one for me, as a 2 finger gesture to the people who turned him down.
