... agree with everything you say ... not only are we in the Last Chance Saloon but Nigel's head is squarely stuck between the buttocks of the fat lady who sings there ... which may account for his particular hair style ...
Your optimism Ed is admirable and if the players had your mindset then I think we could do it, but the problem is I think that a number of players have the same mindset as John Fallen!
You got to remember ed fans are fickle We win a few a people nail us on for promotion We lose a few and were **** and the manager must go Same with every club
ed the problem is the IF bit .. IF Man United lose all of their remaining games and Man City win all of theirs then Man City retain the title - surely you can see that? ... but there's more chance of Rachel Weisz and Megan Fox forcing me (reluctantly of course) into a threesome .. there's this little thing called 'form' to consider and we've lost ours ... Now I'm hoping against hope that we manage to turn it round and get into the play-offs and even go up - but here's the thing that WON'T make me believe in Nigel Pearson I'm afraid ... when a manager goes on a run like this one and it takes this long to turn it around that sits with the manager - squarely - and can you imagine that kind of run in the Prem? ... we'd end up making Derby's points haul look impressive... I believe in my football club ed - always have always will - thick and thin for over 40 years - but managers come and go and some are better than others - Nigel doesn't make my top 5 I'm afraid ... Martin O'Neil, Jimmy Bloomfield, Frank O'Farrell, Gordon Milne & Jock Wallace ... in fact Nigel doesn't even come next!
from what he did in his first spell i have him above, genuinely. he took a sinking ship and got us to the absolute brink of double promotion
Wow ... I can only assume ed that you are so young that you never got to see the teams of any of the others play ... Jimmy Bloomfield's side once contained 4 (OK Shilts had actually just joined Stoke) players that played for England against the Scots at Hampden ... established us in the Prem - won the Charity shield - losing cup semi-finalists to Liverpool Martin O'Neil ... 3 cup finals (winning 2) - play-off final winners and took us into Europe - and not just for 'warm weather' training ... Jock Wallace - Champions of what is now the Championship and to a cup semi-final Frank O' Farrell - Champions of what is now the Championship and was snapped up by Man United ... Gordon Milne took us up after Jock had left - brought through the next generation of England forwards, Gary Lineker and Allan Smith ... .. but wait ... let me have a moment ... no ... you are quite right ed - Nigel Pearson's acheivements put them all firmly in their place ... he took us up from League 1 ... only thing is there are no real comparatives - because we had never been that low before! .. but wait Simon Grayson has actually done that with 3 diffrent clubs ... oh **** Nige ..
If living on planet earth is a "mind set" then your right... could it be I just have a enough experience and knowledge about these things to realize the truth when its staring me in the face ?
Dont be little Nigel achievement in League 1 It took Forest and Leeds 3 years and they still only got 2nd. Charlton took 3 years Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday took 2 years and neither won the league. Its going to take Sheffield United at least 2 years and they wont win the league Other then Norwich none of the bigger clubs to go into league 1 can match what Nigel did The championship the next season had Newcastle and West Brom in it who was lightyears ahead of everyone else. We had our top scorer missing nearly half the season and still finished 5th Other then Nigel, Micky Adams is the only manager to achieve some sort of success here since MON left
Proud - I didn't 'belittle' it .. I merely put it into conext - ed's comment was that he put Nigel's achievements in his first stint with us above those managers I mentioned - IMHO that is bordering on the absurd - indeed iyou have then mentioned Micky Adams who is another who actually achieved more ... Frankly, getting out of league 1 is what is 'expected' of a club of our size - and for all the teams you mention and even for Wolves, Man City and Villa in their time - but do you honestly think that any of them will be listing that amongst their greatest acheivements? - should I expect Cushelle back shortly listing Forest's struggle to get out of league 1 as being 'up there' with the Brian Clough era? Some serious coffee sniffing required on here ...
... my fear too. The irony is that we could quite easily give them a pummelling too - if the chains were unshackled and the younger, hungrier, players were just told to 'go fo it' ... but my expectations on that front are not high ... we look scared ******** every time the opposition get near our box now ...
You've been one of the most mouthy gob-****es from this board all season. When times were good for Leicester there was no end to your incessant boasting and wumming and it's no coincidence that now events have castrated you (and your mate AKCJ) relations between the two sets of fans have become better. It's ironic how often the most arrogant types disappear into their shells when the going gets tough (Berlin Bunker syndrome) and your defeatist attitude now exposes you as a fair weather supporter.
