We all know the cost of petrol is a major factor in the cost of living for most people. The price of oil is at it's lowest since July last year (about $101 barrel) so today's news of lower petrol prices is welcomed. We just need to make sure we see the benefit........
The price of oil and the cost of petrol are seperate entities. Around 60% of what you pay at the pump is tax. Unfortunately the slight fluctuations in the price of oil have little impact on what we pay.
I'm sure I heard last week that some supermarkets were going to lower the price for fuel, potentially sparking a price war?
Supermarkets sometimes sell fuel at prices which only just break-even to encourage spending in their stores (where the profit margins are much higher).
Apparently, some reduced by 2p litre last week and tomorrow will see a further reduction. Mind, if you thought the oil price has dropped recently, gold has fallen off a cliff.
I wouldn't touch supermarket fuel with a barge pole, ****ing cheap dirty ****e. If you value your car go to texaco or shell and pay the extra 1p or 2p a litre, well worth it much better quality and probably cheaper in the long run as you get better mpg from it.
Tesco Momentum 99 is decent. My car runs like a bag of ****e on standard unleaded though, so it's that or V-Power
Tesco 99's alright, some cars have to run on 97, although if your running on 97 and switch to 95 it will run like a bag of **** for a week until your ecu adjusts to the new fuel. What motor you got? Bet it's a scooby
Cheeky twat Although me and the old man used to have an Evo 9 track toy. Proper chavvy but **** off a stick fast
Depends which supermarket and which fuel, some of it's exactly the same stuff that's in the pumps at Shell/Esso/Texaco.
It is a scooby ain't it I want an Evo 6 as my next machine, best one they made. Cost serious dough for a good one though bit of a collectors item, so looking at other options. Maybe an R32 or a civic ek9 (love those old civics), limited for choice by need of back seats and a decent sized boot.
The Tommy Makkinen one? It looks like I am going to have to trade mine in for something sensible - need something to fit 3 kids seats in the back, so if anyone on here has any suggestions I'd be grateful
Yep, couldn't be anything else could it. My mates uncle had one of them before it got nicked from his mates garage and sent abroad all in one night. Stupidly quick. Evo's and scooby's will sure fit 3 kids seats in the back. An octavia vrs will definitely fit them in, plenty of play with those aswell both petrol and diesel versions, petrol ones can be mapped as high as 270 brake so I'm told with little more than a free flow exhaust and a decent induction kit. That's what I'd go for. Failing that your looking at the beemers and volvos of the world, depends on your budget though. Can get some decent 5 series bm's.
Not anymore. ISTPLT, why do I have more warning messages from you than anyone else who's ever moderated this site?
BSman - that's total bollocks. A complete myth that for some reason a lot of people believe as gospel. I've worked in the industry for many years and it is EXACTLY the same fuel at supermarkets as it is at the retailers youve named. FACT.
Well than you're being given a load of bollocks, explain how road tests show vastly different results (and I'm not talking slight, I'm talking huge differences) in power outputs depending on which fuels used. Coupled with personal experience, I've filled this car up at morrisons twice, most I ever got was 36mpg, same route with texaco fuel I can get 40mpg every time, even had 42 and on a different route I once got 48 with pics to prove (I was shocked). So I'm afraid you are talking bollocks. Also supermarket diesel is even worse than the petrol, diluted with a much higher %age of biofuel than top brand diesel. Facts.
The stuff that leaves the refinery is the same for all retailers, but each of them add their own additives to the tankers, which can effect performance. For some reason, the additives the supermarkets use smells a bit funny.
