Apologies. Been a busy weekend for us mods. Noticed a fair bit of chagrin from users on here recently relating to visitors coming over to scoff. Couldnât fail to have missed either, the expectations that mods would be there to mete out bans for the least little thing, when at other times weâre criticised for taking action for far more significant rule breaches. If youâve been around to witness or participate in the recent board review, youâll have noticed a few changes in our approach to modding. These include the need to avoid making personal judgements where possible and rather to respond to PMâd complaints from you. These complaints must: state precise concerns around breaches of our rules (which are accessible from my sig.); give the link to the thread in question; and include the numbers of the offending posts (all of them). This is the information required by the SuperMod (and therefore ourselves) to check the validity of a complaint and decide necessary action (if any). However, since writing up the conclusions of the review (and posting reminders of the new approach two or three times since), weâve only received one PMâd complaint about a visitor to date. Whilst this duly gave the thread link and post number, the post itself turned out to be far too mild to put before the SuperMod. Just to let you know, if you donât already, the system for requesting bans centres around a thread on the moderator board that all other mods can see. The last thing I want is for other mods to think of us Rs as whingers who canât take as good as we've often given out. Substantial wumming etc. is one thing but trying the SuperModâs patience by repeatedly calling for ban action on what others perceive as little more than âenhancedâ banter, threatens to leave us in the lurch come the day we'll really need their sympathy. Just a bit of perspective on why we hesitate to act in many such cases. Further enlightenment may be drawn from the contents of a ban request made to the SuperMod earlier. âA permanent board ban please for seanDCFC (http://www.not606.com/member.php/1009473-seanDCFC) Heâs a fairly frequent visitor to our board lately. Never got anything interesting to say for himself, just wum stuff really (minor irritant category). Evidence of user frustration with him on: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/205936-Northolt (Post numbers: 8 to 16 and 20 to 25 inclusive.) Warning Tbh perhaps unsurprisingly, weâre attracting a few like seanDCFC atm given the clubâs demise. Only too aware it wonât be just common or garden schadenfreude either, thereâll be an element of bitch-back in there too, for all the arrogance some of our lot have shown on other boards over time. With this in mind, Iâm trying not to overreact with ban requests. Need to preserve some of your patience with us for outing real loons! However, also need to keep things in perspective. The obvious discontent (both on the pitch and on here) is likely to impact negatively on the traditional vibrancy of our board in the next couple of months, and Iâm loathe to let that happen more than it has to. Weâll try to contain the agg with thread and post deletions / closures for the time being but I anticipate board users will be increasingly hankering for blood in some cases. So just to warn you, there could be a few more ban recommendations from us before the summerâs out.â Get me doh?! Your turn.
Sadly, the wumming, gloating and general 'dancing on our grave' is part and parcel of 'banter' and is only to be expected in our current demise. My advice is 'take the medicine' and wait for our return. Their day will come and our 'schadenfreude' will be all the more delicious for it. I know there are several tossers who get up our noses but they're really not worth the hassle...
A well known lady once said certain nasty types should be starved of the oxygen of publicity. If you adapt that principle here, we should just ignore the WUM's and I'm sure they'd go away.
Part and parcel as said of a poor season added with that our investment and very public ambition We should take it IMO great lesson for all of us
Perhaps it'll teach some who give it, boy we set ourselves up before the season started, deserve a lot now
Well if you can't take it you should give it out... many on here have given out so it's expected. I really don't know why people rise to tea bait, if they were just ignored they wouldn't come back.
we will get a lot more when relegation is finally confirmed, just have to put up with it for a couple of weeks
I find your WUM responses very amusing! Getting the point across without engaging them - best way to deal IMO. Keep it up.
I don't care if we get a few muppets on here having a go at us. They only do this because no one cares about their club and the media love us. They hate it! its the others I don't like. How many City/Utd/Spurs/Liverpool/Everton/Arse fans do we get on here 'winding us up'? Answer none because they are the real big clubs and don't need to mock. I also don't accept posts saying 'we were giving it large'? No its our board and our predictions. All the other boards have all said similar things about their clubs. If they don't like what we say then they can #### off, why come on our board? They come on our board because basically they are 'muppets'. These muppets I can take but their are 2-3 that go beyond normal forum decency. We all know them, especially one of them that changes his name from time to time and follows me around on every thread and keeps asking me to be a 'buddy'? WTF! This bloke claims to be in his 40s yet acts like a 12yr old. Hopefully now summer is coming he will probably be hanging around parks (if you know what I mean)? The others just come on to ruin our site and for me I would kick all of them and it will make our site better. However I always respect the mods and will let them deal with these posters.
In the context of what this threadâs about, I note from SRâs âCherioâ thread (http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/205773-Cheerio/page4), Queens' concerns about a complainantsâ clique and double standards when it comes to modding visitors. Hereâs whatâs been said. The reason no action was taken against Chico was it was clear enough to me, even without visiting the Swans board, that the PMT Pill thread was the consequence of something that SR had done over there. After all, when was the last time Chico came wumming over here? Doesnât happen. So that being the case, I asked the Swansea mods (both Chico and Musty any way) what had been going on. Still havenât had the full low down, just confirmation that heâd been saying some nasty stuff about âdisadvantagedâ people, so much so, theyâd already approached the SuperMod for a ban before we did. So what wouldâve been the point in us (in the middle of trying to find a replacement for NUTS) bothering about banning someone whoâd been provoked by one of our's in the first place. Our jobâs about moderation at the end of the day - not burying ourselves deeper in tat for tit. Second point relates to Queensâ allegations about a non-existent complainantsâ clique having undue influence over the likes of NUTS and me. Oh yeah? Do we come across as pushovers? Ask Finglas if weâre that easy to budge. If we were, Queens wouldâve gone ages ago, the amount of pressure weâve had to contain some of his more outrageous rants. I think Queens is secretly more perturbed about our steadfastness in looking to the best interests of the board as whole, and not knee-jerking every five minutes to individual whims and fancies. Canât have it both ways mate, and the fact that youâre not prepared (able?) to back your allegations with evidence, suggests itâs better to continue ignoring your rants than waste our precious time rising to them. Like I say, our job is to protect the best interests of the board. That means resisting the temptation to act just for the sake of it. If we receive a complaint that links the thread and gives the post numbers, weâll judge it against the rules. If itâs got legs, weâll act. If not, weâll ignore it. I realise you won't all know why we choose or choose not to do stuff - and that often-time we're assured we trusted and told to just get on doing what we have to. However, that obviously doesn't mean we can do so without some people jumping to preposterous conclusions. Case of having to accept we can't please all of the people all of the time, I s'pose...
Col, to be honest, I've met you just once and, I've usually got a good read of a person, I wouldn't expect that tone from a decent skin like you. Personally, I deal with WUMs, virtual toe rags and wastes of space, with a good old ....... nothing! No response. Nothing! They don't deserve a response. Looking forward to seeing you again next season at the C&S with that young lad of yours. OnwaRds and upwaRds!
You're right mate. I should ignore them, but I sometimes just can't resist telling them to do one. It's just my frustration with the position we find ourselves in. Look forward to seeing you again too mate. Hopefully we'll be able to have more of a chin-wag.
Well done on banning that chelsea twat. He wasnt even funny or clever. I think col should have an amnesty towards telling Norwich fans where to go! The sheep shaggers wont be visiting here as they will have finally found a rival. Brentford could be interesting if they come up, is their board active here?
Absolute garbage.. Brix. you are the mod and I live and die by your rules. you say their is no ganging up and then say I should have gone considering the amount of complaints...Which is it? Oh yeah, by the way, i'm really really realy put out by the way you stand your ground...? WTF. You are better than that Brix! Col,. you are just a bloke who doesn't like to be wrong. fair enough. But just for you...you are wrong! if I can figure out how to forward some of the PM's to you then I will PM you. in n eed to clear it with the other involved parties first so please give me a couple of days. hopefully they will read this and ok it.
let the wums come on here but they should have no complaint if in the wee small hours when nothing is happening I visit their board
