Yeah maybe we should have got those Murdering bastards Gerry Adams and Martin McGuiness to sing a duet! Turns my stomach to think that they are now viewed as 'freedom fighters' when in fact they tried to murder the whole of the democratically elected government in 1984. What added to my disgust on Monday was the fact that Gerry Adams was allowed media time to vent his spleen!

Not all Tories are ****s Warky. Perhaps you should choose another club to support since you have so much contempt for the town and its people.

Or maybe they could have played the song in full as a representation of what the music buying public of this country had bought this week? I doubt Thatcher would have cared, in fact she'd have seen it as a tribute to her (she said as much when told about the "Ding Dong Thatcher's Gone" TUC death celebration packs some years ago)

But no, the BBC had to censor it...what a ****ing country we live in.

I'm not sure why you think I have contempt for the Town and its people, just another myth to go with all the others you have been spouting on this thread. I was raised on the Whitton Council Estate in Ipswich which was probably the roughest estate in Ipswich back in the 70s and that's saying something. Typical Labour supporting territory or so you would think! Times were grim and pretty depressing in reality until my step father came along and we moved to Cambridge where I got a decent education. I still have family living on the Whitton but I managed to forge a better life for myself. I have no contempt for them or the Town, they are all happy and I love visiting them from time to time.

I agree Welly, the BBC should have played it in full... Thatcher wouldn't have been offended by it, IRA terrorists tried to murder her so a poxy song about awitch wouldn't have bothered her!

If you want me to trawl back through the threads I will, but you've made it clear you think its a ****hole and you're glad you don't live there. You have shown contempt on this thread for most of its people.

incidentally, I don't read the Guardian anymore than I read the bullshit in the mail or the telegraph. I stick to the rather more impartial and informative Independent and the FT, both of which are sticking the knife into the despicable government. I am not a Labour voter either as long as Milliband is in the hotseat.

<laugh> Since when has the independent been independent!

And yes Ipswich Town Centre is a ****hole and many people agree with me! Even Aaron McClean!

Blimey you don't support Miliband! Isn't he left wing enough for you?

So as you are a no nonsense Tory, you like Thatcher then as she definitely wasn't one of those, infact she described herself as a neoliberal. She certainly wasn't a typical Tory!!!

Her economic policies were neoliberal but her principles in social areas were Tory! She broke the old conventions inside the party which made her unpopular with the old farts left over from the Heath era.

I think this is what has irritated me alot since her death. It's like she's getting special treatment compared to other PM's. All former PM's should be given the same send off, they've all served the country and felt the great pressures that come with it. She'd certainly not be impressed with the recall of parliament early at the tax payers expense and the grand funeral and the banning of a song. It seems some of those in government want to kind of make it up to her for stabbing her in the back!!

I didn't think she had any social policies or is that the point, lassez faire and all that jazz. These neoliberal economic policies which New Labour continued which ultimatily resulted in the economic clash.

I'd go as far as to say that she was a natural Libertarian, Robert Nozick's "Anarchy, State, and Utopia" was always one of her favourite works, she often quoted from it, no such thing as society, and all that...but then Libertarians never quite fit into the political mold of this countrys political structure.

Absolute rubbish post. Maybe you should examine the Sunday times rich list which will clearly demonstrate the combined wealth of the top 100 getting larger every year of a Tory led government.

Maggie protected and covered up the police wrong doings over Hillsborough because they supported her during the miners strike.

As for the miners strike, this country was being run as a police state.

So much for freedom of speech.

I think people conveniently forget that it was Arthur Scargill who chose to call an illegal strike and encouraged his members to break the law through secondary picketing and flying pickets! Intimidating innocent law abiding miners from going to work. The police are there to uphold the laws of the land so Treacle is talking bollocks yet again. <ok>
