I know it's a little premature but its a boring Sunday afternoon.

Norwich soton Swansea all use a big cf which we lack. It's surely going to be 4 5 1 a lot next season.

Definitely need a strong defensive CM and a forward, probably another CB too.

I'm happy to keep the majority of this team together just 4 -5 additions needed.

A tad early...but I just hope we're a lot shrewder in the market than the last bunch in charge when we went up.

I can see us signing Elmo, and using Him and Brady on the wings. If you get a big lad or an out and out striker they will work really well with the balls getting in the box. I would then use Aluko or Boyd behind that striker, with two central midfielders behind them. I would play Meyler and a New CM in there which we need. Hobbs and Chester at CB, would sign at least another one of them. Dudgeon and Rosie as full backs are okay but i think we can get better than them both in PL. And a new GK, or Stockdale. To be honest if we go up, i think Bruce will get 7 or 8 players, most teams do.

He will already have his targets in place.

    I hope so, anyway...

agreed, it's about having a manager with the clout of Bruce who carries significantly more weight (not just literally) that Browny ever did. With the Allam's as backers and SB as manager, decent players might just view us as a feasible and dare I say 'attractive' proposition.

Hard to say, really. I agree that we need someone who can play in the very center of the park (someone like Neville, but younger) and another 2 CBs. A striker would also likely be needed.

Considering how much teams want for home-grown players, I would want us to look abroad again. I know it didn't go well with Prozzy, but there are players out there who are bargains (just look at Michu!) and would get the same job done that the over-priced Brits would, for a much smaller price.

I would certainly look at the teams who go down from the Prem. Players like Le Fondre are clearly decent at that level, and would strengthen our attack.

There are a lot of players in the Championship who would certainly be good acquisitions for the Prem.

The loan market will be key as well.

Saying that - players like Prozzy could easily thrive in the Prem. We might not need to buy a 'big man': we could already have one waiting on the bench.

Anyone thinking just 4 signings for next year should look straight at reading. 7 or 8 is an absolute minimum. We should look at signing the better players from the championship.

I thought we already have a big German centre forward sat warming the bench, he could be a revelation in the Premier League, maybe that’s what Bruce had in mind for him.
    A bit of forward thinking

Someone like Billy Sharp or Le Fondre (if he fancies another stint in the north) as the much touted fox in the box kind of striker would be good.

Similarly a defensive midfielder with decent presence would be good.

Wondering on the formation - think Brucey said somewhere back that the 352 allowed us to play Koren. Not sure Koren will feature that much next season but wonder if Boyd is the replacement for this formation to work.

Cant see a team with Aluko and Boyd playing together unless they play as a top two. Boyd in midfield is a waste

Lets get there first, it'll be difficult to truly figure out who we need, but will Gedo be one of them if we do go up?

I'd be happy to see us sign Elmo, an experienced defensive midfielder (Phil Neville springs to mind) and a striker and we use the rest of the money to repay the loan to the Allams. Call me a **** but almost everyone agrees Papa is mental and as such the £60m loan still massively worries me....

I really cant believe you've just said that, I just cant..... But no, it is not racist. It's based on what I know from a lot of people who have had business dealings with him and the way he conducted himself via the media making childish threats and asking photographers to snap him at Melton HOLDING THE PLANS FOR THE KC when HCC refused to give him the stadium for free. If someone was white and I said they worried me would it be racist? Did I say Ehab was mental?

Don't take this is a criticism of the Allams, but instead pure sound business to repay creditors loans when you suddenly are blessed with an extraordinary increase in revenue.

I agree. People were saying the Watford celebrations after they beat us were inappropriate, well this thread is tempting fate!

thing is though BCC, if revenue, profit and business were such a factor, would he really have pumped in £50mill to what was then a massive risk and huge liability with a zero to slight chance of ever getting a penny back out?

he is a bit mental, and thank heavens he is!

Think this is very premature because there's still plenty to play for, but if we do go up and Wigan come down I'd like to see us try our luck and stick a bid in for Kone, pacey, good in the air and he's shown he can get goals at premiership level.

Just one more small point if we get automatic promotion this time we will have a minimum around three extra weeks start on the last time going through the playoff's.

Just thought I'd bring that into the equation.

    <cheers>
