How would you rank the 20 teams in terms of footballing quality (encompassing imagination, variety, fluidity, adaptbility and, of course, effectiveness). Mine would be as follows: 1. Swansea 2. Man Utd 3. Man Ciy 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal 6. Chelsea 7. Everton 8. Soton (Under MP) 9. Lpool 10. WBA 11. Wigan 12. Fulham 13. Villa 14. Ncastle 15. Norwich 16. Sunderland 17. Stoke 18. Reading 19. QPR 20. West Ham Whilst WHU would receive a high mark for effectiveness, the way they went about their business today made for an awful spectacle. They have to be last for me on that basis. Anyway, I'd be very interested to see people's top 10 in particular!
Well in terms of effectiveness you've got to give credit to West Ham, because they've managed to do fairly well by playing football that's about as exciting as a stick of celery. I can't be bothered to rank everyone, but I think Arsenal and Chelsea would be right near the bottom for me because they just don't know how to make the best of what they have. I might also criticise Spurs of the same thing. I'd have Sunderland right at the bottom and United right at the top. That's just my take on effectiveness though.
Top 5 1.Spurs 2.Arsenal 3.United 4.Swansea 5.Us Bottom 5 15. Liverpool (boring passing, once they get a cutting edge they'll be in the top 5) 16. West Ham 17.Newcastle 18.Reading 19.QPR 20.Stoke Based purely on seeing them play this season.
Solid additon there! Interesting to see other people's takes. Obviously some teams (Spurs and Everton) rely on good wing play. WHilst other's (Chelsea) try and slip it through the heart of teams. I guess it's each to their own in terms of what's easiest on the eye Joe, agreed that West Ham are effective but that's only one criteria for a pretty demanding bunch of tradiitonal footballing fans.
1. Swansea 2. Man Utd 3. Man Ciy 4. Spurs 5. Arsenal 6. Chelsea 7. Everton 8. Soton (Under MP) 9. Lpool 10. WBA 11. Wigan 12. Fulham 13. Villa 14. Ncastle 15. Norwich 16. Sunderland 17. Stoke 18. Reading 19. QPR 20. West Ham Teams 1 to 19 play football but I'm not sure what team number 20 play but it doesn't appear to be football to me.
Still think Man U play the best football. Spurs can be good to watch. Agree with the Liverpool comment. They have been **** since Houllier started the defensive counter crap that Benitez continued with. God knows why they think Benitez is good. Bottom 5 are pretty obvious really. West Ham, Stoke, Norwich, QPR and Reading
For me Stoke still occupy bottom place. At least West Ham look up for it whilst they go about their Sunday League football.
Of the top teams I really can not watch Chelsea, such a quality attacking midfield yet they are so slow and predictable.
Joe, I was at the game yesterday and I own more than one stick of celery. It's just lucky for you that the celery doesn't have a solicitor.....
From a swans fan thank you! I have bn impressed by u guys this season, fast free flowing football. I predict a good spectacle on Saturday!
I take it that TTSF is the only one on here who has seen Newcastle on a regular basis this season (or taken regular trips to their board!). If people are going to put Stoke and West Ham right down there, due to their style, then Newcastle need to be there too. They have been very direct under Pardew this season by all accounts, and I recall a stat a few months back which backed that up. Even at HT today, Neville or Jamie commented about how direct Newcastle had been in the first half.
Hard to say unless you've seen every team play 90 minutes multiple times. From what I've seen, in reference to the original post, I'd have us above Everton.
