I like McLaren's coded messages "Jenson you are fighting for position" = "Jenson, just let everyone breeze past you" I wonder what they'd mean if they said "Jenson, look after tyres". Would he just pull over and stop?
Have we seen any Perez quotes on what (if any) actual damage there was from that? To me it looked similar to Malaysia in that he just couldn't look after the tyres in the same way as Jenson.
Are the stewards looking at Webber's wheel coming off? Dangerous situation to drive around the track knowing there is an issue that means you have to crawl around at 80km/h. Lucky it didn't happen on teh back straight and the wheel going on the racing line.
What a race for Mark! I agree it looked his fault, he lunged from too far back and Vernge was entitled to take his line. 5 places for Guitierrez as well, who for me just hasn't looked F1 standard at all.
I thought he defended well when he got that message. He didn't fight later in the race, presumably because he knew he had no chance of beating Raikkonen and Hamilton.
EJ Don't agree with his comment that this was an edge of the seat race, was good for the first 4/5 laps and good for last 4/5 laps when Vettel went on a charge. and Correct, we like a little bit of deg but tyres that last 5-8 laps during a 56 lap race isn't cricket, it's not F1 either! And They've got a quick car all right but they still have tyre deg issues, is they can finally solve them then they'll be in with a shout of picking up a race win or three.. Correct and Correct! Esp. about the ****e tyres! Indeed, but come on, did you see his GF I thought I'd never say it, but yes, Jake is very much missed, still Suzi is better on the eye EJ, he's been away for the first few races and he's gone OTT in trying to make up for lost time, calm down Mr Jordan! Overall, the picture is getting clearer.. RB aren't going to be has dominant as we first thought after pre-season. Ferrari are bloody quick in race spec! Mercedes are quick over a lap or two, if they can get the tyres to last they will be in there with RB, Ferrari and Lotus in the hands of Kimi is going to be competing for the title until the end. McLaren, with Button (Perez seems a little lost/out of his depth there so far) will come good, if they can get the car turned around by the Spanish GP then he'll still be more than in with a shot for the title due to the fact that the contenders will continually take points off each other this season. Somebody at Red Bull needs to install a Helmut Force-Field on Webber's side of the garage, first the fuel rig, then the tyre... hmmmm ture Dick Das"turd"ly if you ask me Best of the rest appear to be FI and Suaber, Williams seem to have lost the plot with the 2013 car! On a personal note, can I please not get VdG any more, 2 out of 3 and I'm already developing my number picking algorithm for 2014!
I enjoyed that race, Alonso was brilliant, Vettel almost pulled it off - but I think if he'd qualified on the softs he probably would have about top 4 anyway, so the strategy wasn't that good, made it interesting though!
I hope Sauber have the common sense to drop Gutierrez soon. Surely having 2 racing drivers is better than just having Hulk and some money? Get Kamui back, Hulk and Kamui would be an awesome lineup.
That's a harsh penalty on Webber, the door was left wide open by JEV and there was more than enough room for them both to go through the corner. A shame really because it's been a nightmare weekend for Webber and he will want to get over it, but it's going to carry on over into Bahrain.
This. I'm aware we're somewhat spoiled in that Hulkenberg is a future WDC and Perez did hit the ground running surprisingly quickly in 2011, but Gutierrez is being beaten by the Williams at the minute. I would, however, point out that he was doing well to fight with Perez and the Force Indias after a good start and just made a rookie error of locking up under braking - so there are signs of improvement.
But he still made the stupid error, the same errors he's made throughout the junior formulae. If he's still making the same mistakes at the highest level, then there's a chance he'll never sort it out. Sauber are basically relying on Hulk to score all of their points, and that's not good for the constructors.
Paul is Mr Shawshank, all the inmates were in there because the lawyers phucked them, it was never their fault!
PDR had a good race but Sutil pushing him off the track was just stupid, I think he's entitled to have a go.
No action taken against any of the drivers investigated for using DRS under yellows, which is good news. That many penalties would have been a farce. Quite, off to Porsche for WEC & Le mans apparently. Let the auditions for a Red Bull seat commence.
The only time I can remember yellows in the DRS was when Gutierrez's car was being cleared away, but Button was leading the race in clear air then, how could he have used DRS? I'm guessing there was some kind of glitch with the light/flag system for so many of them to do it.
