While it has been a pretty dreadful season by all accounts, what do you think was a significant part of the season that led to this disaster? I would probably say not sacking Hughes earlier. If Harry would have had 5 more games in charge it may have made the difference. Also AJ getting crocked.
Simple. One thing. Player apathy! No passion or willingness to put in the effort for the bucks they're paid. We can talk about managers and injuries till the cows come home but we had the players to stay up this year if they had put in the effort. Simple.
Yep,Hughes not out quick enough.Panic buying and the wrong players.Too many individuals,no team ethic. On top of that,we have one or two quality players and the rest are very average....and some are not even league 1 level. What a mess and what a ****ty few seasons. Can I get a refund on the past two years??
The writing was on the wall from day one - QPR 0 Swansea City 5. Hughes given too much money and spending it like a drunken sailor on numerous average players didn't help your cause.
Jamie Mackie missing the sitter v Swansea when it was 0-1. If he had netted that, the collective squad mentality might of improved .
Selling Heider and not replacing him. Not getting a fourth striker in, in the first window and repeating that failure in the second window. Landing Crouchie in January would have made a huge difference in my opinion.
No but he still got a point per game and that was after he had to steady the mess Hughes left behind, we would have stayed up if we had Redknapp all season. Even with the current squad.
most of us thought we would have a decent season going by the players we bought, but we also noticed & how right we was of being a striker short & how is that being noticed now, blame hughes on that front everything has gone wrong has.
The worst thing is we knew it at the time, it wasnt hindsight. going with 1 injury prone target man was insane, especially when you consider one of our other strikers is even more injury prone. I have my suspicions that players were not bought with the best intentions of the club in mind.
Start of season starting with Zamora and Johnson two sicknotes in the team, selling Helguson and not getting a good centre back. Losing against Villa and Harry not getting the points we needed since that game with the squad we have. Villa and Southampton have moved on whilst we will go down with a wimper.
Sacking Colin and bringing in Huges at all was the mistake. Harry has dissapointed as well of late. He started off picking different teams for different games, that got us results. Lately he's been picking the wrong teams, and of course we not been getting the needed results. But we aren't down yet.
Has to be hanging on to Hughes for way too long. Swans was just a wake up call of what needed to be done. Everyone could see that apart from Hughes! The rumour is that Hughes was asked to resign (presumably with some sort of pay off) four weeks before he went ie before the Reading and Soton game. (Not sure we'd have won the latter anyway). Hughes hung on for his contract as would most of us. Hughes should have gone after 10 games with no win.
Selling HH Keeping MH for too long Not getting anything out of the Villa and Fulham games That last minute against Wigan
