I see that Carl Curtis is reporting that Nicky is making excellent progress and believes he could make a return before this season is done. How big a boost would that be if it started to get a bit tight towards the end. He also reports that that Campbell doesn't look likely for Saturday. Nothing written in stone but it would be like a new signing for the final run.
sorry SBFF, I stopped reading after this I cant see Malky risking Maynard with only 5 games left.... Needs to be fit then get match fit to hit the ground running. If he isnt fully fit then I'd rather see him use the summer to get his fitness back and test the injury.
Well he was only reporting what he had seen H, not the usual ITK stuff, so if Nicky is doing what he says I would think it's possible he may make an appearance for us. I tend to read through the forums and make my own mind up on the likelihood of it happening, regardless of who is reporting.
It would be a gamble to play him - once you have clinched promotion etc maybe he will give him a run out
When/if promotion is confirmed I think it is more likely Velikonja will get some game time. All previous reports have said Maynard is out for the season so I see no reason to risk him now. Bad news if Campbell not fit for Saturday as Mason is not right for the lone striker role and Helguson........
I don't believe anything that the Voice of the fans (CC) has to say the man is a self elected fans voice piece. Basically a cut and paste FOOL
In that case Isawronnymoorescore (although you should never dismiss anything until you find out, no matter who it comes from) this is for you. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cardiff-city-manager-malky-mackay-2586721
Good news for Maynard but I suspect this is more for morale purposes than reality. He "may" get a friendly game in a few weeks does not point to a return to first team action. Personally I would not dangle that carrot and tell him it's a new start next season.
If he isn't fully fit, will he make a difference over what we've got. If we get to the point of promotion with a couple games left, a 10 minute jog out at the end of a game would be good, but looking for him to play flat out if he isn't 100% is risking further injury. There seems little merit in trying to get him any game time other than the psychological boost for him so that at the start of next season it isn't his 'first game'. Leave him get over the injury and get him fully fit through the summer.
Not quite sure where he fit's in. Not Premiership standard perhaps, but was brought in to do a job for us this season. He will probably be sold off with a large number of others when our promotion is confirmed. By next Saturday, we will be up....guaranteed, the bookies are never wrong!
I always liked the look of him and would hesitate before saying that he'll be surplus to requirements. I think he'll be with us and (if he's over his injury properly) he'll come off the bench. I don't think we've seen the last of his by any means.
Ditto def a keeper unless his injury problems prove too much which would be great shame for such an obviously talented player.
given you need 2 players for each position plus a few spares and players that give you something different, Campbell and Maynard are the two channel runners. Need a couple hold up players alongside or just in front of them. Mason will be a change player out on the right on as cover in the middle. Like Maynard and Campbell, they really need someone alongside them, either in a two or a three. I'll be happy to start next season with all 3 and replace Rudy and HH with hold up players with a bit more about them.
