Alrite lads, I should be getting off of the rig on the 15th up here in sunny Scotland, and fingers crossed, I should have the weekend off. Which means I am defo going to try to get down to Sunderland to watch the Everton game. Its a long drive from Aberdeen to get there, so would be looking to stay the night of the game, and head back up Sunday. Where's a good place to stay? Somewhere like the Travelodge? Where's good to drink beforehand and after the match? And do you reckon there would be tickets available? Last time i was at the SoL was 2007 for the Coventry game with Keano, and that was a day trip up and back...
Sunderland central Travelodge would be your best bet I reckon. Multi story parking nearby and plenty of bars to choose from straight outside the door and along the route to the stadium. It's about a 15 minute walk to the ground across the river just follow the crowds. Can't guarantee and good result against them buggers mind!
there are plenty of tickets mate, they are knocking them out at £20 per pair through the schools, travelodge is ok £22 if you book in early, plenty of places for a decent pint before the game, the jamesons has a large range of lager/beer/real ales and they are cheap, decent scran in there as aswell mate. Hope this helps marra and you enjoy your day
Go with BBs spot mate or if you fancy a quieter night the Wessington has rooms and a decent bar although its a taxi ride to SOL. You should get tickets no prob as well all depends on what sort of night you are after.
Thanks fellas, Travelodge its looking like Not after a big one, just somewhere to talk football, even if it's against our bogey team, I have plenty of Blue mates who will inevitably be taking the piss out of me. Will give the Jameson a go aswell, will enjoy the day even with a loss, as we havent beaten them in that long it's been ingrained in us... but with the Italian stallion, i have hope!
I think the last time we beat them was in the early 80's. we should've beat them at home in the league last season, if it wasn't for Osmans fresh air shot that won him a penalty to equalise. Have a good day mate .
if you go via Amsterdam you can stay at mine after a visit to the red light catch the early plane to skunksville and enjoy the match
Was in the Dam last month (go most years) are they still going ahead with banning tourists from purchasing herbal remedies?
You were with me when we beat them 1-0 in December 2001, couple of days before xmas remember? There was a blizzard and you almost got hypothermia..
