Let me rephrase that, Bo Bruce's new single is bloody brilliant.

 

Jim White writing on Eurosport says that Adkins got us promoted on a limited budget...Nigel did many good things, but hardly on a limited budget for the lower leagues (unless you are comparing us to City or Chelsea).

Well it's a tricky situation for the various radio stations that air the chart show every Sunday as the song is in the top 40 so they have to play some of the song but obviously they don't want to be insensitive at the same time so I think the 5 second clip is the right call. Hopefully they won't play the part with "Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is Dead" in it.

 

There was a Tory MP on TV last night who made a very good point, that the BBC's decision was just the sort of Stalinism which Thatcher opposed with every breath in her body when she was PM.

Personally, I wish a song had been chosen which made the same point as the "Witch" song but which wasn't intrinsically offensive. I would have picked Dylan's "I Ain't Gonna Work on Maggie's Farm No More", or Robert Wyatt singing Elvis Costello's "Shipbuilding".

 

To be fair it wasn't chosen, just hundreds of thousands of people downloaded it so it soared up the charts.
